Yeah it could be the size. It would look better if it was a little bigger ron the cover, and maybe slightly lower down.

I'm kind of cracking up over the rape comment. I know that's wrong, but now I can't see it as anything else.

Announcements are already up on Criterion's website so unfortunately that's the final cover art design.

I'm terribly upset they seem to be shying away from Dual-Format on catalog releases. Would it be so hard to have it be two-disc, "just a film and whatever fits on one disc of DVD" with all features on the BD if they don't want to have to pay a designer to do a full digipak, with a standalone DVD as well?

Just noticed Red River is a SRP $50 title... Makes the Amazon preorder at $27.97 a pretty decent deal.

Maybe this link will work for ya'll: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

May looks like Criterion catching up on the upgrades. I'll end of getting them all at some point.

I'm confused: why didn't they just crop the poster a bit?

Also, the guy turning out the light probably has some Parmesan in the back, if ya know what I mean.

I'm going to guess an Eclipse set is coming within the next month or so of announcements, as they haven't announced one in a while. Also, I'm waiting for Criterion to re-release Seven Samurai, for example, in an unnecessary Dual-Format in the upcoming months.

what else can be said about a film that is less than 2 years old? its a 45 min 'making of'

I assume that would be a 6-disc release huh? Since I own the three other releases of Seven Samurai...I could do without. Although I'm part of the problem convincing them to keep releasing it.

Lots can be done. You can have experts, both from within and outside of the film industry, analyze the themes of the film. There could be film maker on film maker interviews, like Frances Ha, that are much more interesting than a Making of featurette. Hell, Certified Copy came with another one of Kiarostami's films from 1977. The age of a film should not dictate the quality or amount of supplements that can be paired with it.

Could have supplements from when it was a Cannes like Antichrist does

I don't understand the hate for upgrades. I would rather that Criterion get them out before they lose the rights.

Another great option. I would have loved to see that. I also think a video piece with Tony Rayns, who is an expert in Asian cinema, discussing the work of a non-Japanese director's foray into Japanese cinema could have been pretty great.

This is not the first time Criterion released almost all upgrades in a month. July 2012 they released Down By Law, Last Days of Disco and Metropolitan with Le Havre and the Jean Gremillon DVD Ecplise set as the only new to the catalog releases.

They have quite a few to upgrade still, hopefully Summertime and Hiroshima mon amour are on the way.
