Cassavetes is sold out, but they come in slim cardboard cases.

The Cassavetes box has an outer cardboard slipcover which slides over another cardboard slipcover creating a sealed box which contains 7 paper digipaks and a book. Not sure about the Bergman but I think it's similar to the Yojimbo/Sanjuro set with more discs.

For those waiting for the Fanny & Alexander set (movie/TV series)....the price for $21 is pretty good. Not cheap like the other sets are going for but considering...that is a great price for new.

Sets that were not on sale:

Paul Robeson
Olivier's Shakespeare
Eric Rohmer's Six Moral Tales
4 by Agnes Varda
3 Films by Louis Malle
Ingmar Bergman Trilogy

whoah...the non-Criterion Bergman box set - The Ingmar Bergman Special Edition DVD Collection that is usually $90 is on sale for $4.

Added

Battle of Algiers
Haxan
Insomnia
Jeanette Dielman
The Vanishing

and

Great Adaptations box

for another $64.26 shipped.

That's 16 blind buy Criterion titles.

I should mention I almost bought the Michael Haneke 7 film set from Kino because they have it for ~$22 shipped, but remembering the PAL-->NTSC issues put me off.

Just put in a second order for the Eisenstein box, Great Adaptations box, Hiroshima Mon Amour, The White Sheik, Brief Encounter, Haxan and Withnail & I.

I think the best Criterion deals of the night were the Cassavetes box and Antoine Doinel box.

Just another heads up, one that might have slipped past the radar. The Facets (I know...)set of Heimat is only $12 too, and that sucker never drops in price, so for those that like the German stuff, I'd get on that one now!

Alright I calculated that if I would have bought all this in a BN 50% off sale I would have spent $443.63 that includes CA tax and I also added the 10% member discount. Wow that $155.17 seems a lot more bearable

The Varda box set is actually sold by supermart for $28.94, not as good as the other deals, but still pretty good.

I would of lovedddddddddd to have that Rohmer set, I have been wanting it for a long time, was going to get it next 50% off sale.

Atleast I got a few things I wanted, a blind buy (BRD Trilogy), and a dvd I can re-sell since I have the blu (Vivre sa vie).

Does anyone know of something like this before? Are we going to get ripped off with fakes?

All the Criterions both in the UK and the US come from marketplace seller Supermart, who had Criterions for 49p (70 cents) a few months back- I managed to get 40 delicious titles that time around and 20 this. Not sure how Supermart can sell them for such a low price, but who cares?

Just added the Hitchcock Masterpiece Collection, the Werner Herzog & Klaus Kinski Set and the Billy Wilder Collection. Time to go to bed. Hopefully these aren't all canceled by the time I wake up in the morning.
