Can't wait to see who gets what with these... even if I don't get one. just cool to see what they are giving out.

Really is a nice little bonus game, so to speak.

The chances of anyone in this thread receiving one are pretty slim, given the number of people who probably ordered from the site. Still, it's fun to think about while I wait for my package to arrive.

- "Well, that's that. No more Golden Tickets."
- "A lot of rubbish, the whole thing."
- "Not to Charlie it wasn't. A little boy's got to have something in this world to hope for. What's he got to hope for now?"
- "Who's going to tell him?"
- "Let's not wake him. He'll find out soon enough."
- "Yeah, let him sleep. Let him have one last dream."

You ever wonder how bad that room had to smell with 4 old people lying in the same bed without getting up for over 20 years?

Yeah, I know what you mean... small number of people here compared to those who actually ordered. But yes, still fun to wait and hope.

How is The Long Day Closes not getting talked about more in here? This thing is phenomenal. I understand Throne of Blood, IAMMMMW, and Thief are much more high profile releases from January, but I don't recall much, if any, discussion on this one. The liquidity of the film and they way Terence Davies plays with time is totally entrancing. Hopefully people were just holding off on it for the flash sale and a dialogue on the film opens up in the coming weeks.

It would be great if the golden ticket meant a 60 second spree in the Criterion storage closet. Grab all you can!

They referred to it as a virtual shopping spree correct? I wonder if they'd allow you to say "Give me 1 of everything, thanks"

I'll bet they have some copies of The Third Man in there. Not that I need another one

Anybody knows why Criterion didn't renew their rights for Ran? It seemed really weird to me. I'm guessing their rights ended, but then it would have gone to the highest bidder. Seeing as it's Kurosawa's second biggest movie, and seeing as Criterion owns pretty much every Kurosawa movies outside of Duel, Dersu uzala and all the ones after Ran, it's very surprising they didn't fight more to get the rights back. I'm sure they would have made a great deal of money had they released it on blu ray, seeing as its quite a popular title.

Plus, I'm sure I'm not the only one who bought the criterion dvd of Ran and decided not to upgrade with the current blu ray since it wasn't from Criterion.

Studio Canal/Lionsgate owns the rights to Ran. Criterion's rights expired and Studio Canal decided to keep them themselves.

Awwww. Awful.
Even worse when I can see the Criterion blu ray cover that was all ready to be released in 2009. What a waste.

Positive vibes! I feel like someone from here could win. A lot of multiple orders from most.

The Studio Canal BD is great. I wouldn't hold off on it. Keep the CC dvd.

Anyone else think that the Collection, at the moment, has a severe lack of Scorsese-directed movies? I mean, he has no problem working with them (World Cinema Collection, Last Temptation), but they should do more.

I, for one, would love it if they can get WB's greasy neon claws off of Bringing Out the Dead.

Do. Quite frankly, I think Jubal is the better of the two films.

I'm tempted to sell my DVD copies if I can get $10 or more...even though it would mean I couldn't use it as a loaner to friends or have if I'm with someone who doesn't have a blu-ray plater somehow...

Seems like they are selling to me. Worth a shot.
