I have this (I think this version) but its pretty poor, the print of the artwork is realllllly cheap and the case is awful, and quality is ughhh lol when I said only VHS out there I don't really count this as a proper release cause it feels like it sprinted at someones home lol - its that poor I had actually forgotten I had the DVD lol

I am totally with you, Hiroshima mon amour should get a release hopefully for June.

Here are my hopeful films to be released by criterion:
Pickpocket
Au hasard Balthazar
Andrei Rublev
Stalker
Zerkalo
Le Fantôme de la liberté (any Buñuel film)
Le Samouraï

Box sets:
The faith "trilogy" by Bergman
Dekalog, if this gets released by Criterion it will be their greatest box set release.

I actually love it. The title on the top makes it incredible! "From the bowels of France" LOL

If you're right I will be happy but still disappointed as I only recently got both of those on DVD....I waited to bite the bullet for a long time. Dekalog is so terrific. #1 gets me everytime for some reason. Kieslowski is the master at putting seemingly impossible ideas/feelings on the screen and making you feel/think them.

Yes, we NEED the Dekalog! Three Colors and Double Life are twoof the best releases in my opinion.

I've never seen The Dekalog, so a Criterion Blu-ray would be the best way to see it for the first time.

I have been waiting for years for the blu-ray release of Bergman's faith "trilogy".

Dekalog is incredible in scope. It would be a pricey set being approximately 560 minutes, 10 episodes. The DVDs by facets has some kind of color timing issues. The polish release seems to have better picture quality. To hear Zbigniew Preisner's sublime film score in HD audio would be an amazing experience.

One can only hope.

I can't tell if my favorite part about announcement day are the releases themselves or the chaos that ensues after.

I'm glad of that pass. I know many like it (I respect that) and I wanted to really have a visual trip with the film etc. In the end I sold off my Blu of it. I knew I would never watch it ever again. E.T.V. would have been the worst inductee into CC since Sweet Movie. Another film I despise.

Agreed. I had seen the director's cut at the c'theque. I didn't care for it. It was too self indulgent.

Wasn't Midnight Cowboy hinted at in a newsletter clue?

I wonder if that will be released this month or at a later month...

It'd be awful nice of Criterion to announce a big box set the month we're expecting a Barnes and Noble sale again, though...

Although I liked E.T.V., I cannot stand Irreversible. I find his perspective to life in general to be very naïve and superficial at best. Enter the void is his hardest effort in being "deep", the title spells out his intentions to audience.

Seeing your icon, I would love to see another Powell and Pressburger film on blu, especially A Matter of Life and Death.
