Since you're a Kubrick fan, I'd recommend The Killing, which also includes Killer's Kiss as a supplement.

And on the subject of Kubrick, Paths of Glory is another great Criterion release.

I just received the shipping notice email from Criterion, so it looks as though Persona, The Freshman, and The Great Beauty will arrive at least in time for release day. They did not waste any time getting these dispatched.

I totally agree. It's not even so much of a digipack vs plastic debate for me, it's simply the sheer width of these things, which only contain a standard one blu-ray release. Other digipacks, like the Repo Man or Sweet Smell of Success were perfectly ok with me, and even the wider releases like Seven Samurai and On the Waterfront were acceptable, since they had a second disc in addition to a spined booklet. Also these releases had the weight to go with them, and the heft feels good in hand; the new releases weigh less because of the thick plastic DVD holder on the left.

So when I order King of the Hill, Foreign Correspondent, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Jules et Jim, etc... I find these packages to be extremely aggravating, as they horde space on the shelf. They might as well double the current thickness and include a VHS copy for those that haven't upgraded to DVD just yet.

I totally agree with this. I like Repo Man, etc. These new ones, not so much. When I got my first one my first impression was "this is huge". They really are wide, and for just one blu ray I don't like it. It takes up more space than some box sets. It's not a big deal just my 2 cents.

Without giving it away for those that haven't seen it - I'll stay vague: It's one of those films that's great because the director took some risks and made the right decisions every step of the way.

And I'd like to add that the film features some of the best cinematography and directing that I will probably ever see.

It's funny how you're concerned about the width while I am concerned about the height and if these new digipack releases will fit in this new media cabinet I'm about to order. The space it hordes is a bit of an inconvenience but its definitely not as concerning as whether or not it will even fit in a fixed shelf media cabinet that is steel.

i watched the first 20 mins of "the circus" on hulu.
chaplin movies look really interessting ! they are more serious than i expectet.

ordered "the red shoes" and "late spring" @ ebay.

i might buy the UK release of late spring as well to get "the only Son" in HD as well but the criterion has the tokyo ga bonus feature that sounds interessting as well.

are current tablets fast enough to use hulu ? im considering getting one in the near future.
im using holo to unblock it and it works fine on my laptop. but it might be tricky to get a US prepaid creditcard thats possible to register with a fake US adress to pay for hulu+^^

Without being more specific, I would certainly assume so. Streaming quality seems to be limited more by bandwidth than hardware nowadays.

Yeah I've used my iPad to watch a few movies on Hulu before and it turned out well. Hulu actually has an app so you don't have to use the site in an internet browser. No buffering or anything like that. Just make sure you have a decent internet connection and it shouldn't be a problem.

I got to watch The Kid (first viewing) at a cinema in the UK before I left, great experience. I saw the upcoming TCM broadcast during my weekly trawl of the channels to set up my PVR. Looking forward to revisiting this one

The Kid was so fantastic when I watched it last semester for my film class that I did a paper on it. It made me fall in love with Chaplin.

Need to pick up The Gold Rush, The Great Dictator, and Monsieur Verdoux next B&N sale.
