My typical wishlist

More Kurosawa
More Ozu
La Dolce Vita and/or other Fellini movies
Le Samourai

Besides those, I'd be happy to see these get upgraded:

Bicycle Thieves (though I own the Arrow UK release)
The Complete Mr Arkadin
The Spirit of the Beehive
Do the Right Thing (25th anniversary this year, great summer movie, Criterion still has the rights)
Hoop Dreams
Knife in the Water
The Vanishing
the Passion of Joan of Arc
Spartacus
Sisters

Ever since I started collecting Criterions I've been put off ordering standard Blu's - they just don't seem or feel as special lol
Eureka's Masters of Cinema collection (in the case of Passion of Joan of Arc) are hardly "standard" blu rays.

Oh, duh. My bad. Forgot Criterion had released the original. I'm just so used to watching the Nick Ray version at Easter time.

My wish list for today's announcements:

Upgrades of Le Samourai and Bicycle Thieves

New releases of the long-hinted-at Eraserhead, Scanners, and The Brood

Dream release upgrade: Kurosawa's Ran (damn StudioCanal...)

I am completely for more Ozu. He's phenomenal!

And how could I forget Bicycle Thieves on my upgrade list? It's one of the few films I ask for every month.

My replacement packaging for The Great Beauty has arrived today in mint condition It was packed in a tight-fitting box wrapped in bubblewrap. It is a shame all orders are not sent out like this to minimise damage. Even if the box is not a perfect fit, a few layers of bubblewrap will be adequate protection.

Le Samourai would be great. What is it with Melville? Why are his films either OOP or DVD only?

It's a StudioCanal thing. Lionsgate has an exclusive North American license for all StudioCanal-owned titles. Well, except for the not-yet-announced Tati box, but that's a special case (word is that Tati's estate pushed for Criterion to get those films).

Three Melville titles are still available on DVD from Criterion because Criterion's original licenses for those titles haven't expired yet. As for why they haven't been upgraded, I suspect that the issue with Le Samouraï (the source needs some work done on it) also applies to Les enfants terribles and Le deuxième souffle.

I was referring to the top bluray ^^ didn't notice the Joan of Arc when I first replied.

Also on time for Criterions announcement - its different every time haha, sometimes i've seen it at 6 PM GMT, sometimes 9 PM GMT lol
