I own Contempt and I am very happy with the A/V on this disc. I also own StudioCanal's Grand Illusion and The Ladykillers, both highly recommended.

Studio Canal released a 50th anniversary boxset in December. I'm curious if this is a transfer of the 50th anniversary restoration, but I have not been able to find any reviews.

Pretty unlikely. Fantastic Mr. Fox just came out. Anderson films always get a good solid couple of years with other studios, and are typically released from Criterion when one of his films is coming to theatres. So maybe when Anderson's next film comes out we can start talking about Moonrise.

You avatar reminds me... I watched The Killing over the weekend, including the extras. The interviews with Sterling Hayden from French TV are hilarious. What a kook that guy turned into. Great actor though.

I just watched that last week and I thought it was okay.

It's probably my least favorite Chaplin film from what I've seen, meaning it wasn't a bad film by any means.

Oh, I caught it too. Just tired of hearing it asked for. And even when joked about it will bring out at least 3 or 4 serious comments echoing the sentiment.

Wow, you're definitely right about the finish of the book too. How odd. I'm not home or I'd take a pic of some of mine. They look like bootlegs compared to that. My copy of Pierrot le Fou has a booklet that is crooked and glued on there as if done by an uncaring hand. Is there an indentation around the disc or just the nub?

Which has been in the Criterion catalog since May of 2005. So yeah, the dude made what 8 films? Let's not expect three all at once, when the remaining ones still have a decent shelf life with other studios.
