Yes, but why does Kiarostami's Criterion releases always look uglier than anything? I mean, Certified Copy I can understand as they emulated the book in the film, and Closeup was okay I suppose, but man, Like Someone in Love is "down there".

Nothing for me here, except maybe The Big Chill in the far future..
Saw it for the first time, this past Christmas.
It was quite good!

I think they did a pretty decent job.

Since there's clearly no Cronenberg box set with the announcement of Scanners, what else is there for them to release besides The Brood?

Jacques Demy finally enters the Collection and in a gloriously big way. Sure Scanners will get the most attention but the real victory here is the Demy set. It's absolutely loaded and feels like a complete steal at $100 (I'm not planning to wait on a sale, I can't). I am so freaking happy right now you simply wouldn't believe. Just an incredible month.

This is a very solid month.

Insomnia is basically an autobuy and Picketpocket is looking like an autoblindbuy.

Scanners, The Big Chill and the Demy set will all eventually slide into the 'sure, why the hell not' pile during some sale or another.

Great set of announcements I love it when Criterion is able to bring a title from their LaserDisc days into Blu-ray, plus I was afraid that Twilight Time had gotten The Big Chill.

DIRECTOR-APPROVED EDITION:

New 4K digital restoration, with 2.0 surround DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack on the Blu-ray
New conversation between director Erik Skjoldbjærg and actor Stellan Skarsgård
Trailer and TV spot
One Blu-ray and one DVD, with all content available in both formats
PLUS: A booklet featuring an essay by critic Jonathan Romney

New cover by Fred Davis
Must be one helluva long conversation to justify the $39.95 price tag.

It will take 10 minutes just to say their names out loud.

You can flip them for quite a good price on eBay.

It's an upgrade from the LD days so... Use the artwork from the laserdisc.

Everyone here's chatting away about the releases while the Criterion site for me is throwing errors left and right.

Insomnia and Pickpocket are a go, I'll pass on the rest. Very, very happy about Insomnia and Pickpocket, though.

Yeah, depends what the packaging is like. I thought about doing that with my Zatoichi set, but I just felt the set would look weird with all the blank disc slots.

Excited for Pickpocket - it had direct influence on Paul Schrader's films
