The website had the iTunes version as the default image for quite some time. Unless you clicked on the listing, you wouldn't see the updated cover.

Try a hard refresh, Shift+F5. Should fix the problem.

A while back I re-watched Carnival of Souls (1962); excellent, and this is a film I would probably never have heard of if not for the Criterion label. When it comes to b&w horror films that exude creepy atmosphere, this one is towards the top of my list. The melancholy organ music added a lot to this atmosphere as well. Very creepy/unerrving; throughout, there was an acute sense of despair/sadness...

Note this title is not on Blu yet; I just wanted to mention it in this thread since it is on the Criterion label. The regular DVD looks decent, but may look better with a Blu upgrade (though who knows how much better; after all, it is an older & low budget b&w film...).

[Show spoiler]
Obviously Mary Henry (the main character) drowned in the beginning, and the person we saw walk out of the lake three hours later was her ghost. What threw me off when first watching this was that she, as a ghost, was still able to drive, interact/talk with others, etc. As the movie progressed, we did notice that less & less people were able to see her at all. I'm guessing she was supposed to be in some sort of purgatory, and then as she started seeing more of the dead people, she became more detached/distant (literally & figuratively) from the living.

[Show spoiler]The conversation she had in the doctor's office was interesting, in that it implied that she had been distant with people when she was alive; so it's almost as if she was in a self-imposed isolation anyway, prior to her drowning at the lake. We just saw a continuation of this when her ghost was being distant with people as well. The conversation(s) she had with the ministers at the church seemed to confirm this, i.e. when she said that her job as a church organist was just a job, and that she felt no emotion in regards to it (or presumably anything else for that matter).

OK, I give up.

Interestingly enough, in the Criterion announcement article on the news pages, someone else mentioned that cover difference, and that this site corrected the cover for the release's page. I'm still seeing the apparently-erroneous version in the announcement article, though.

I just looked at Amazon's listing. They don't have an image up for the CC BD, but the image they have for Amazon Instant Video edition is the "erroneous" one (though it does have the Criterion logo and such on the image).

Surprised by how high up The Thin Red Line is. I've only seen it once when I was younger, and I can't really remember it that well. I don't remember liking it that much though, but I do need to see it again now that I feel I'm mature enough to better appreciate Malick's efforts.

Thanks for compiling that Most Rewatched list, jw007! I'm glad that people share my fascination with The Third Man and The Night of the Hunter.

I just came home to find these Blu-rays at my doorstep...

Double Indemnity
Touch of Evil
Sabrina
Gunfight at the O.K. Corral
Death Wish

It's a shame that Riot in Cell Block 11 came out a week too late, otherwise I would have won the award for most awesome haul in the history of Blu-ray.com.

The Thin Red Line deserves to b e up there I hate war films, just can't get into them, but this is more than a war film, so much beauty and emotion to it.

It was my pleasure posting this list. I had some time on my hands this week so I went ahead and did this.

I personally am rather surprised The Third Man received so many votes since its been out of print for some time now. I guess people either have the Studiocanal version or rent it on Netflix.

Other surprises for me were: Videodrome, Rushmore and I guess Yojimbo.

I really enjoy it. There's an HD version of it available on Vudu which looks pretty good. It's part of their disc to digital program too, so you can get it for $5 if you have the DVD. I don't see Criterion getting it, but I hope Warner considers a BD release as part of their Archive collection. Next year will mark the film's 25th Anniversary.

Completely agree. I almost included it on my own list but sometimes its difficult watching a film like this often. It's one of my coveted Criterions of all though and definitely my favorite Malick film. It goes well beyond war and into the human condition in ways that no other film I've seen boldly go into.

I just broke down and bought the warner archive DVD during their sale a couple weeks ago, cause who knows if it's ever going to get a proper release on this format! It is definitely one pretty movie.

I should have voted on that most rewatchable list! I'd vote Videodrome, Life and Death of Colonel Blimp (it's really long, but it's the kind of movie that I love getting lost in and can watch over and over - I can't believe no one else mentioned it), Royal Tenenbaums, Nashville, and Wild Strawberries (such a life-affirming movie!).
