It's okay! I just counted your picks toward the list..that moves Videodrome up 1 notch, Royal Tenenbaums up 1 notch, Wild Strawberries up 1 notch and now Nashville makes the list because yours was the 2nd pick for it! Congrats.

List is updated again.

I fell in love with The Third Man on my first viewing when I was in high school, and always include it in my Top 5 (Criterion or no).

Ugh, developers are tinkering with the forums and move this into a Studios sub-forum.

I just came home to find these Blu-rays at my doorstep...

Double Indemnity
Touch of Evil
Sabrina
Gunfight at the O.K. Corral
Death Wish

It's a shame that Riot in Cell Block 11 came out a week too late, otherwise I would have won the award for most awesome haul in the history of Blu-ray.com.
That is an epic haul indeed . Touch of a Evil is awesome.

Or have the Criterion LD and/or the Criterion DVD.

The biggest surprise in the list for me was that M didn't finish higher.

So you saw that coming, did you? That the most popular titles would be the ones that were watched more frequently by more people?

Naked Lunch

(... though Crash would be a good one too)

I guess I'm about the only person in the world that didn't really have too much problem with it [the other Crash], but I've only seen it once, quite a while ago. Plenty of other movies that actually do suck out there. (Like Scanners or The Last Days Of Disco.)

Normally I don't care too much about these things, but this just seem strange. After all, Criterion is not a studio, so why would it be in the studio sub-forum?

This doesn't seem that odd. Sticky threads in the double-digits start to defeat the purpose.

And studio and distributor are routinely used interchangeably in these parts so that's kind of a tomayto tomahto thing.

That said, change does usually suck. Pat Priest was a halfway decent Marilyn Munster but she was no Beverly Owen.

Default Criterion Collection Discussion

I have the previous release of Insomnia but criterion working on it seriously makes me think of double dipping.

Ya, it sucks. I had to do a search to find this thread. I thought something was wonky with my browser or something as all the stickies I usually go to were gone. So now all the studio threads are separated into a separate folder, away from any other individual title discussion? This is not a user friendly change. Maybe I'll go back to HTF.

I just finished watching Breaking The Waves and it's easily Lars Von Trier's best film from what I've seen and easily one of the best films of 1996, if not the best.

It's really hard for me to separate the often pretentious-like face value messages of Von Trier's films with the overall message of the films. In this instance, the idea that
[Show spoiler]sex with numerous men can save somehow save somebody's life.
However, what makes this film so remarkable is
[Show spoiler]how strong someone's love can be that they are willing to not only change their entire life, but also dedicate it to another. Bess's sacrifice is very similar to the martyrs of the past who are willing to die for what they believe in. The last shot of the bell ringing from what I presume to be heaven just proves how she suffered and is being rewarded accordingly.

Remarkable film and perhaps one of the best restorations from Criterion.

I hate the new move...I voiced my complaints in that thread, though, so thanks for the link.
