I'm surprised Armageddon and The Rock aren't on this list I'd be curious to see a list of most-owned Criterion DVDs that haven't been released on blu-ray in this country at all, I think Ikiru and Vampyr are the only ones on there, right? EDIT: Bicycle Thieves too apparently.
Actually, all of the ones in that list had been released on DVD by Criterion, though several of them went OOP when Criterion lost the rights to them. Surprisingly, some of them are still in print even though Criterion doesn't seem to have the Blu-ray rights.

Chasing Amy (#75)
The Silence of the Lambs (#13; OOP)
Grand Illusion (#1; OOP)
Bicycle Thieves (#374)
Robocop (#23; OOP)
Ikiru (#221)
Vampyr (#437)
Monty Python's Life of Brian (#61; OOP)
Do the Right Thing (#97)
Spartacus (#105)

If you want DVD-only no Blu-ray released in Region 1 then I can provide a list. I have the totals for every film.

I compiled it whenever I had some downtime at work. Took me a few hours but it's worth it

This reminds me of the "most re-watchable list" poll I did last week as all of these films (except 8 1/2, Seventh Seal, Royal Tenenbaums and Days of Heaven) made it into the top 10.

Seek out Jindabyne if you can. Same director and Laura Linney is fantastic. Has two very memorable (but disturbing) scenes. I'd argue that Jindabyne is a bit more Altman-esque especially since it borrows one of the Raymond Carver stories Altman featured in Short Cuts.
Yes, you can say it was a lot like a Sayles film for sure. There was something a bit too somber about the picture though and I needed some humor (and ironically 9 times out of 10, humor itself always originates from sorrow rather than joy). For some reason, Lapaglia reminded me of an overweight version of Trent Reznor.

I've seen Jindabyne too but I need to see it again.

Yes, some of the visuals (esp. that shot of Geoffrey Rush looking out into the bay) are very good.

I just found my copy. I'll have to give it a rewatch.
You have to be in the right mood to watch this film though. Watch it if you're looking for a downer of a night.

yep, that's an all-star list of films people have been asking for. I'd be super excited about 5 of the first 7 if they were announced.

I got Stray Dog and Carol Reed's Fallen Idol from the library. Any love for FI here? I don't know that I've ever seen it mentioned.

Carol Reed was definitely on a roll at the time, directing Odd Man Out, The Fallen Idol, and The Third Man all in a row, getting better with each one.

Odd Man Out is one of my favorites.

I'll have to look into The Fallen Idol, I'm not sure if I've seen it. A quick check shows it available on blu via France...

Definitely! It's one of my most rewatched movies not just from Criterion but all of my collection. A really, really great film.

Excellent film! Interesting to compare the sympathetic character (Sir) Ralph Richardson plays here with the total opposite one he portrays in The Heiress. Great actor. I think this is the film I fell in love with Miche'le Morgan. Makes me wish that both Port of Shadows and The Fallen Idol were still part of the collection.

Graham Greene and Carol Reed collaborating weren't too shabby, eh?

Fallen Idol is an excellent film. It's been several years since I've seen it and would welcome an upgrade (if CC can re-acquire the rights). I remember the film having one of the most terrifying close-ups I've seen.

Cool, thanks for doing that, now that is an interesting list. "Short Cuts" is a movie I've been meaning to see for a long time too, along with Peeping Tom and Ikiru. I saw Vampyr (the horrendous Image DVD), F is for Fake and I own Night and Fog but I barely know anything about several of the others. I've been contemplating buying that Bergman trilogy too since who knows how long it will take for all three to get ported to Bluray.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the whole Bergman trilogy released as a Blu Ray box set in the near future.

I own several of the Melville CC releases and have seen a few more that I don't own but for some reason Le Samouraļ has never done anything for me.

Now that Sony and Criterion signed a deal, I wonder if we'll see a release of Fisher King or Baron Munchausen.

Would love to get an upgrade from the LD.

Maybe get She's Gotta Have It too

The deal is for use of Sony's replication facilities.

True but it could lead to partnering up for releases. Maybe The Big Chill was the first of these partnerships?

Just wishful thinking
