Barton Fink is my favorite Coen Brothers movie as well. Along with 3 Women, the biggest mind **** "Okay, what the hell did I just watch?" movie I've ever seen.

This would be my #1 wish for a Criterion release, along with Drugstore Cowboy.

Just had a sneaky look at some screen grabs from the bluray and MY GOD.

Makes the DVD from Criterion look nasty! - It's actually changed a lot in terms of colour, lighting etc in the upgrade (for better!)

I watched an SD recording of it via The Sundance Channel. I can't even imagine how great it would look on Blu-ray, especially the

I am a big fan of 3 Women and it is my favorite movie by Robert Altman. I love movies that make you think and think and keep thinking once it's over.

I also would love to see Drugstore Cowboy on Blu-ray, too. It's one of the only Gus Van Sant films aside from Good Will Hunting that I can tolerate and watch again.

Good list!

The Man Who Wasn't There is severely underrated.

I watched A Serious Man the other night and I was very underwhelmed by it. I couldn't really connect with anything said or done, hence why it's lower on my list of favorite Coens.

Yes, The Long Good Friday is an amazing film, and the ending stills remains a tour de force of emotional range. Too bad the current Blu's a little lacking.

It's too bad that Criterion did not upgrade The Long Good Friday to Blu-ray.

This news cements my decision to put Who Framed Roger Rabbit at the top of my still-unwatched Blu-ray stack this afternoon. I haven't seen this movie in years, and I'm looking forward to this. I keep the Blu-ray stored with all of my other classic film noir movies and neo-noir movies, because it adheres to film noir conventions in so many ways.

Come to think of it, Bob Hoskins also starred in Brazil. I have not seen that movie since I was a freshman in college almost 25 years ago, though.

All perfect, even the Digipak of King of The Hill. I did have a slight heart attack when the disc on top was Stake Land I thought, Oh God, I've got the wrong order. I have the 5 I ordered plus this one. Nothing on the packing slip to say it is a freebie so I'll contact them.

Before I put these with the rest of my collection I need to adapt a famous movie quote

"You're gonna need a bigger shelf"

quick question.. in the Ozu trilogy of films, Late Spring, Early Summer, and Tokyo Story, do the actors play the same characters? for example: Chishû Ryû is in all 3 films. do these 3 stories center around the same characters?

I've seen Tokyo Story, but plan to watch all 3 on Hulu starting chronologically.. haven't seen the other 2

He played the role of the father in both Late Spring and Tokyo Story, so I'm going to assume he did so as well in Early Summer, though I haven't seen it.

I just found out that one of the art house theaters in my state will be showing "A Hard Day's Night" in early July.

If I like the film, I may go and check it out. That would be a cool experience!

No, they're all different characters and storylines. Ozu never made any sequels, but he did remake or re-imagine a few movies (Floating Weeds, An Autumn Afternoon, and Good Morning are all examples). You don't really have to watch any chronologically.

I was lucky enough to buy a CC copy of Pierrot le fou for a reasonable price.

The transfer looks immaculate! Rich colors, the clarity...

I watched this years ago, but couldn't get into it. However, I wanted to give it another try. Right now, I am glad I bought it for the transfer alone.

I didn't find it very compelling nor did I enjoy any of the characters. Plus, I found it to be a little predictable at times.

It's not a bad film, just not the most engaging for me.
