I'm not sure if you caught me response to the last time you asked this question a few pages back, but if not here it is again...

Oddly enough, I managed to get Days of Heaven to play once last month on my Mega-changer, but ever since it has been listed as "invalid".
Having said that, there is some jarring freeze frames in the movie when the hunters are doing their thing, but as far as I could make out it is intentional and part of the storytelling style of the movie.

Thanks for the response. Sorry about the double post - I forgot I asked the question here already....

I'm aware of the directors use of the paused imagery. This is a total crash of the film though....

Need a quick opinion: I'm gonna Netflix The Leopard in the next few days. Never seen it. Italian or English version first? I'm assuming the Italian, but I figured I'd check the brain trust...

I agree that it does enhance the movie. I just was not anticipating such a long scene.

Ahh-ha gottcha; nope I didn't experience that with my copy of Walkabout on my PS3. I would have thought that both of us having issues with the Mega-changer was player related, but since you are also having the issue with your PS3, I'm .

As an aside, while writing this I tried to load both discs again, and Days of Heaven is now being recognized by Gracenote and is working again in the Mega-changer. Maybe my email actually did some good and a Walkabout fix is next.

Criterion no longer owns the rigths to these films. As such, they can no longer offer them for sale.

Has to do with rights running out I believe. The Third Man is a classic. Pierrot is one of my least favorite Criterion on Blu. The film just seems "full of itself."

As early as this fall...... I don't know what to think about this news though...... I'd hate to have everything "spelled out" to me, after forming the myriad of possible meanings I have about it, thus far.

Well, hopefully it's just a really well put together "making of" type of documentary on this wonderful film. Did you follow the link at Criterion to The New Yorker bit?

exactly! for the same reason, i refuse to watch 2010 or read the 2001 novel. Clarke even says in the Intro to 2001 that many people wont read 2001 because it will "ruin" the "mystery" of 2001 the film that they've created in their minds. same here. no thanks.

The Italian. Probably should just wait for the blu-ray though.

Well, I got my replacement disc today from Amazon for "Walkabout". It freezes at the same place as the original did. The operator told me they have had several complaints and will be removing it until they can get ahold of Criterion.

(again, tried on 2 different machines).

Thanks.

For rentals I have no problem watching on DVD. If I like it enough I'll buy the Blu-ray upon its release.

In my opinion, "The Third Man" is better than "Pierrot Le Fou."

Of course, it is. However, the link I posted is referring to a film of Super-8 footage shot by actress Françoise Spira during the filming of the movie. After she committed suicide the footage was lost for decades. Reading the text from the link would've informed you of all this.

I had an opportunity to attend this screening last Thursday in NYC but had tickets to a concert that night. A friend of mine, a film student at NYU, had tickets through the school. It seems like this may be the only screening in New York, but hopefully it makes the rounds again or is released on DVD in the future.

Sorry, I have a hard time reading stuff due to a traumatic brain injury, not only do I have bad short term memory but my working memory is bad. I have like 400 blu-rays but have only finished maybe 50 of them because it takes days or even weeks to finish a movie due to my very poor working memory and short term memory.
