Sounds like Sex and the City - except the girls in Sex and the City are a little more whiney and never happy lol

I don't want to say too much about Inside Llewyn Davis to avoid spoiling it for you, so I will just say to rent as soon as you can.

The film truly surprised me, to say the least, and the soundtrack is just stellar. Oscar Isaac is truly talented!

now that more people have chimed in with their top Coen films, I have to emphatically echo this sentiment. Blood Simple is a FANTASTIC film!

I love the extended chunk of the film that has no dialogue and no soundtrack, a la Hitchcock's Frenzy. they perfected that again when Anton has the honing device in No Country For Old Men. Melville has stretches of film like that, too. It's very suspenseful and I'm unaware of anybody outside of Hitch, the Coens, and Melville who have really pulled it off.

Why are we all ranking Coen bros. movies in the Criterion thread, exactly?

In any event, Raising Arizona is #1.

Not seen yet so can't really judge this film :P - SATC series got more annoying towards the end - first few were probs best... the films are yucky lol

And Makes total sense lol Girls is almost a remake of SATC but less money and tad more childish (but I didn't mind the series).

I think the film worked better (tiny furniture).

TLDoD is really nothing like Sex and the City. Which is neither a good thing nor a bad thing. I like both.

For region-locked Sisters fans looking to upgrade from Criterion's ancient DVD to the superb-looking (and extra-packed) Arrow disc, it played without any code or menu trick in my Panasonic player, and the Mondo Digital review states:

Quote:
the Blu-ray was announced as Region B (and Region 2 for the DVD) but, at least based on the disc provided, loads up fine in any player.

I'm about to start the Criterion version of Mona Lisa. Not the best picture/audio, but it doesn't matter - I'm only wanting to see a brilliant performance.

Screen caps comparing Criterions and Arrows Night of the Hunter have been posted.

http://caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergleich...ss=1#vergleich

There's a bit of difference between them. Never knew Arrows looked different then Criterions.
