And Lynch's return for the finale made it stand out as something that would have been worth continuing. Unfortunately, ratings dropped during the lull following the Laura Palmer case's resolution. It would've been nice to see what ultimately happened with Dale.
I need to rewatch these as only seen parts of it, rented off Lovefilm and they decided to send the discs from season 1 and 2 in different orders, so I couldn't really watch in sequence so gave up - might watch today actually haha.

I LOVE the film though, so emotional and powerful.

Not sure if its cause I've seen film so many times, but I LOVE the actress who plays Donna in the film, over the TV series - hard to adjust when watching TV show lol

Might be a spoiler question:
[Show spoiler]Can someone clear up who maddy is in TV show for me? (starting the series again now and bit confused as Sheryl Lee played Laura in film? so why is she a different character in TV series? Is there a reason or something?

[Show spoiler]Maddy and Laura are cousins
. I've been holding out for the blu-rays to rewatch first time since the show originally aired.

Lots more spoilers at this link.

We believe it is the Forum's way of maybe stopping endless posts of "thanks" as I'm sure they clog up the servers.

Also it is a nice way to publicly say "Thanks"

To anyone wishing to add Nashville to their collection before the B&N sale, DeepDiscount has it for $19.99. (Then you'll have to find another five-oh-one to trigger free shipping ) Through May 5th, that is.

I doubt that if No Country was the only Coen film I'd seen that I'd be able to tell I was watching one of their films the next time around. It is such a great piece though, and anyone placing it as their number 1 has no qualms from me. Only that I'd urge them to see all of their stuff!
that's a pretty good point.

the kind of list making logic that you find so "odd" is not an entirely original thought of mine. there have been articles written about the Sight and Sound voting and lists in general that discuss the same point.

and as I said, it's fine. No one is trying to "change anyone's opinion." me saying that it is pretty darn near objective fact that Fargo is their best film is my way of expressing my opinion. I apologize if that "exhausted you".

Regardless, even if The Man Who Wasn't There became the new Che Guevara t-shirt, ironic mustache, or over-exposed intro clip to some terrible television series, none of that would change the fact that I consider it a fantastic film. It's not like a favorite summer vacation spot that gets ruined with over-development, traffic, pollution and crowding after being featured on the Travel Network. The film remains the same film no matter what other people think of it.
Not exactly sure what you are saying here, but anyway...

The only concern is that this title comes in a digipack and DeepDiscount doesn't use boxes for shipping unless you order 5-6 titles at a time. Also returning BluRays to DeepDiscount and getting a replacement can be a hassle (you have to pay for return shipping).

I already have Nashville but a lot of the titles in my want list (the ones released since the last BN sale) are in digipacks too. I will order them from BN either during their 50% sale or the buy 2 get 1 sale that immediately precedes it. If the digipack arrives damaged I always have the option of returning it to the store and getting a replacement.

Melancholia is fairly tame by LVT standards. It's also fantastic.

Melancholia is brilliant, a lot hated first half cause they got bored, but I thought first half was incredible, really helped you learn about Justine and stuff, and was so beautiful.

Second part was also excellent, but yeahs as rather tame... But maybe that helped it, was worried Kirsten dunst couldn't handle being in a Lars film but spit was her best performance I've seen and was such a transformation (she was also amazing in interview with a vampire).

But yeah, the visuals, the music, the acting was perfect.

The five obstructions was quite an interesting film/documentry, quite funny at times, but some fascinating stuff

Not much - the only scifi part of it is the Melancholia hitting earth and the way it does it, its quite real tbh - its very different to most end of the world films, it feels so raw and real and not tacky/over the top - and best of all its an end of the world film not set in a major city lol

Its a brilliantly made film and so beautiful in terms of cinematography - only flaw for me was how tame it was - I wanted it to be like Antichrist - by showing the most extreme part of anxiety/depression, but Kirsten Dunst pulls it off so brilliantly it works without the extreme Lars
