Where is this stated online? Just wondering where you got your facts from. I know its always in July but sometimes it doesn't start until the 2nd week or so.

The prices of the titles on my "buy list" are all too high to make the current B2G1 sale of any benefit to me

I have plenty to keep me occupied until the 50% though so not all bad, and my credit card is happy too

I work there. Saw it listed yesterday in our system.

Yep, there is no clear pattern in terms of spine order. I'd guess Ikiru would be next though, but I'd be happy with any title. Just keep 'em coming is all I ask of Criterion

During my lunch break, I bought the Criterion Blu-ray of Overlord ($27) and the Guys Being Guys Party 3-Pack (Bachelor Party / Revenge of the Nerds / Porky's) ($15).
Nobody can say that I'm not a well-rounded cinephile.

I'm looking forward to checking out Overlord in high definition, since I was fond of my old DVD. It's a slow-burner compared to many World War II films, but it's visually entrancing in every way.

EDIT: I did not realize that the Barnes & Noble B2G1 sale started today. I might take advantage during the last half of the month.

You may just need a couple of highballs before the pattern appears. Still think it will Redbeard, even though I'd prefer Ikiru.

Thanks, but I ended up doing what I always do: watched a film that wasn't even on my agenda.

Chungking Express. I love it more than ever now.

RAN aside, Criterion had intended Seven Samurai as the 2nd AK blu-ray release. They issued a notice saying it would take more time and in the meantime gave us the Yojimbo/Sanjuro set. Not a bad deal.

Should've gone for Barry Lyndon. Express is a great film. After Days of Being Wild its Kar Wai's best film, but its no Barry Lyndon

$29.01 titles that I found:

Overlord
Il Sorpasso
Master of the House
Breaking the Waves
Ace in the Hole
Riot in Cell Block 11

In for Overlord, Il Sorpasso, and Master of the House. Thanks!

Has anyone seen Master of the House? It's Dreyer, so I think it'd bear watching.

I don't see how the two are comparable, really. Glad I went with Chungking. It's just what I needed.

And it's far and away my favorite Kar-Wai.

Anything in the system about a 40% off BD sale? Would nicely fill the gap...

Just a quick Criterion/TCM note:
Two documentaries from the Collection will be shown later tonight
Grey Gardens pretty well-known on this board.
Salesman this is a gem, IMO. A film about door-to-door Bible salesmen doesn't sound interesting but this time capsule from the '60s will probably make you feel better about what you do for a living, I can almost guarantee. Anyway, it's also available on Hulu if the late night/early morning TCM showing doesn't work for you.

Well, Kino promised Dersu Uzala (along with Come & See) quite a while back, long enough to make one wonder; WTF happened? Possibly a rights issue? If so, worse things could happen than finding a home in CC.

I went through the whole (dvd) package when I finally got around to watching it. Even the commentary, which is pretty rare for me. Helped clear some things up. Some day I'll get to the blu.

(Other ones that I did similar were Mullholland Drive (the UK blu) and Last Year At Marienbad (the UK dvd). Some pretty good bonus features on them, though not sure whether either of them had commentaries, so yeah pretty rare.

Salesman, now/how you mention it, brought to mind one of the few eclipse titles I've gotten to: Poto And Cabengo. Could make for an interesting double feature.
