There's also (at the very least) 3:10 to Yuma and Jubal for Columbia titles from Criterion.

I'm not sure what is going on in the minds of the Sony execs, given that they don't seem to have a problem licensing titles to Twilight Time.

I don't know about that, according to Michael's Movie Meyhem the DVD has been discontinued and it's no longer offered new from Amazon so unless there was a shift in the rights I think they might be prepping that one.

This would be a wonderful time (50th anniversary) for a Criterion blu of Dr. Strangelove.

It's still available on Criterion's website. From what I've read, the delay in its arrival on Region 1 Blu-ray is due to the apparent poor quality of the transfer provided to Criterion, which was used on the European release from a couple years ago. I bought the DVD myself last year when I discovered Melville's films, as I didn't want to wait (and the wait looks to be a long one). Here's hoping I'm wrong!

The region free Italian Blu-ray of Gilda is on its way to me in the mail right now.

So...

Yes, Criterion will probably announce it today.

Especially if they (re-)included the "Duck and Cover" short, and the "My Teenage Fallout Queen" song from their LD release.

August. It's always for three months later. May + 3 = August.

It is amazing how different people's tastes can be. There is not one on your list that I would consider a "must own", however, I do own "The Wall" on Ultradisc CD. I hope you get something you are wishing for anyway.

Well, I can hope, as I got this email from Jon:

Thanks for your email, and for the suggestions – I'll be sure to pass them along to my colleagues. Some great films there.
This was only a few weeks ago, so I expect nothing soon. But pleasant surprises would be nice.

In a Lonely Place is a regular on my CC wishlists. It's a great film and it's a really interesting example of just how fine the line between plain old great and best-movie-ebrah great can be.

On a point-by-point basis it stacks up against The Maltese Falcon extremely well but it doesn't quite come together in the same magical (shut up) way.

I wonder if they'll begin to release some Sony titles this month.

Guess Who's Coming To Dinner would be cool.

A Criterion edition of Phantasm would be nuts! Hi Mom would be a super awesome surprise and the Coen Bros. films would be fantastic as well.

No offence but I'm sure they get hundreds of emails like yours and give the same reply.

Indeed it would, or A Patch of Blue.
Any Sidney Poitier in general would be great additions to Criterion.
