Not really seen/heard much about Four Feathers but was a good price so couldn't resist or hurt to try it and never been let down with a blind buy yet :P - and has some great thing said about it.

I think Solaris is great but not perfect not is it Tarkovskys best film (which for me is The Mirror), but has some breathtaking moments and a lot to appreciate, and has Bach's Chorale Prelude In F Minor "Ich Ruf'zu Dir, Herr Jesu Christ", BWV 639 which is INCREDIBLE.

But yeah excited to see it on Blu as only seen DVD and Dvdbeaver screen comparison look pretty nice

Where are you buying them from? My mate pays £15 for his from BIOH etc and certainly never more than £18 with the exchange rate.

The Criterion Blu-ray of Red River is pretty amazing. I watched the theatrical version and Disc 1 supplements earlier this afternoon, and I am now enjoying the pre-release version (nearly identical, except for book page narration and a longer ending).

This movie makes me want to go on a cattle drive. Howard Hawks employed some non-showy camera tricks to make the herd look more expansive on the screen, and the key scenes of a stampede and of a river crossing still have a real urgency to them.

I'm too distracted to write a long-winded review for this package, but I'd happily go with five stars for movie content/supplements and four and half stars for both video and audio presentations.

Amazon usually - but closed account due to issues with them - DvdWorldUsa tend to be around £22, but they are good as pre orders arrive 2-3 weeks before Criterion release date which is awesome :P so don't mind paying a little for that privilege lol but I think £20-£25 for standard Criterion releases are more than fair - they are incredible releases.

But now I have seen Ebays prices they are a lot fairer lol - I will be buying form BIOH now though - but I tend to prefer buying from UK sellers which tend to cost a little more because customs can be a ***** and mess with your packages, and I'm not a fan of having to wait 1-2 weeks for my film, maybe longer haha.

But no, I can not recommend Amazon to anyone ever and if you have common sense - AVOID THEM lol.

As long as your don't buy in bulk you should be ok with Customs.

Do you mean Amazon directly or a 3rd party seller?

Just ordered Army of Shadows from a member here. So excited to see this one. These OOP titles are a pain to find at an affordable price.

I'll be interested to read your thoughts about this movie. It's my favorite Criterion Blu-ray.

I'm a huge Jean-Pierre Melville fan, so your mileage may vary. Lino Ventura is at his tough best here, and Simone Signoret has one of my favorite female roles from any movie.

The attention to detail with regard to the depiction of life under German-occupied France is just magnificent.

I just watched it. Phenomenal film.

I cannot wait to rewatch it. It's probably in my Top 5 westerns of all-time.

man I can't wait for the B&N Criterion sale.

Since I purchased their membership, when should I be on the look out for their coupons that I can apply to this sale in July? I mean is there historically coupons that come out just before or during the sale that everyone waits for and gets? I just don't want to accidentally delete it

Not a problem!

Coupon usage varies by store. Some cashiers won't even allow them, others will allow you to use one, others will allow you to stack them, etc.

Whenever I went to Barnes 'N Noble sales, the cashiers would remember me and they would allow me to split my transaction into three or four separate orders and would apply the coupons.

Lino Ventura is in some great films. Olive has 4-5 of them and they're all excellent. I have Classe Tous Risques on the stack to watch in the very near future, snagged it from Amazon when they were doing the "Favorites of Wes Anderson" sale. (Mostly his own movies, with a few favorites thrown in)

Never seen a Cassavetes film, but am quite interested after reading some of the descriptions. Would people here say the set is worth a blind-buy?

Pretty safe blind-buy I'd say. I got it during the last BN half off sale & loved every film. In fact, I'll probably rewatch them here soon. Great set

Nah never bought bulk, but had customs open my orders like Thin Red Line, Letter Never Sent etc with blades and they cut through the artwork and case lol - was horrific, did a few times and had cheek to ignore it and re send to me.

Amazon directly - Basically I have been banned for life for too many returns/refunds. Sorry but I am not paying full price for an item advertised as BRAND NEW when its come damaged - spoke to amazon each time this happened and THEY suggested a return or refund, I never begged them for it so by their recommendations I went ahead with it, no warnings just banned. Now, I recently ordered Watchdogs from them as a Prime User and its not arrived and emailed them and they are refusing to refund/replace now, so they have taken my £45 and £150 Giftcards I have bought - pretty awful for a company that says they will do anything to help customers.

Oh and I supplied photo proof every time an order arrived in poor condition.

Oh well - Ive spent thousands on Amazon, Id rather see that money go towards Play.com, DVDworldUSA and Ebay.

I wish eBay were a person, so I can wish harmful things on him/her. I had an eBay account since almost day 1, had 100% feedback but my account got permanently banned because as they put it, and yes I'm being 100% serious "I know someone in real life who was banned and they had to ban my account because they couldn't guarantee I wouldn't share my account with someone to get them around their ban".

No appeal process, they won't even tell me why they think that I know anyone. I even went to the CEO's office and was basically told the same thing, sorry you're out of luck.

F**k eBay....
