So anyway, "Wild Child" was probably actually "Macbeth". And the raisin was for "Big Chill" (sorry).

Shockingly, I have yet to watch an Ingmar Bergman film. I already know i'm going to pick up Fanny and Alexander. The Seventh Seal, seems to be a very popular one of his. Any other recommendations for another Bergman film, I could possibly pick up?

Persona would be a very, very worthwhile pick-up.

Given your avatar I'd start with Persona.

Ah, sorry I forgot to mention I had seen Persona... Its late... I would love to make a triple feature out of Persona, 3 Women and Mulholland Drive.
Any other recommendations?

Bergman's one of my favourites int he collection.

Haven't disliked any that I've seen.

Fanny & Alexander is my favourite so far.

Autumn Sonata is fantastic, I recommend checking that one out.

Thanks Edward! I'll definitely keep it in mind once the sale starts up. What were your thoughts on The Magician? That's another one that catches my interest.

There are some film makers/critics that if I see they have contributed something, I'm more prone to buy it (Scorsese, Soderbergh, Kent Jones).
As a writer, director and lifelong student of film, I often spend time watching the supplements that accompany the Criterion discs. In fact, they are some of the reasons that I haven't gotten rid of some of my older discs, because the commentary or documentary are especially helpful and haven't been carried over when updated to Blu-ray. I guess it just depends on what your particular tastes are. Personally, I sometimes think I breathe cinema.

I'd say The Magician is my least favourite of the ones I've seen. It's not bad, by any means, but it's just not as great.

It's a slow build, but when it gets there it pays off really well.

It's Bergman's answer to his critics, and it almost feels like one you want to watch a little later to me.

Wild Strawberries is tremendous too, that would be my third highest recommendation (I have not seen Persona yet, it is sitting on my shelf and will be up soon!)

It's much lighter, but Smiles of a Summer Night is really fun.

Good to know. I may just hold off on The Magician until I see more of his films.

Persona is absolutely fantastic! It truly is one of the more haunting films that i've seen. I had a claustrophobic feeling while watch it.

Ace in the hole
Ivan's childhood
Identification of a woman
Naked
Weekend (Godard)
Letter never sent
Branded to kill
Jules & Jim
Bigger than life
Life and death of Colonel Blimp
Black narcissus
Amarcord
Cronos
In the mood for love
Bad sleep well
1) In The Mood for Love is one of the most beautiful films ever made imho. It's also very touching. I saw this on 35 mm as well as on Blu-ray and it's just stunning.

2) Basically the same can be said about Ivan's childhood. Freeze-frame anywhere, print it out as is, amazing!

3) The letter never sent is another one of those extremely beautiful films and if you're the least bit into photography, you should get this as well. Some people don't like the story as much and I can understand where they're coming from, but I still love it.

4) Black Narcissus is in perfectly restored Technicolor and I'm a sucker for that.

5) Branded to Kill is a great and fun Japanese film. Just watch the trailer and you will know if you'll love it as much as I do:

I was just about to post. Interestingly enough, with all the things he's done, he hasn't appeared in any film that's part of the Criterion Collection. Even counting LDs.

You're probably right, but I'm not going to get too worked up about it haha.

Aside from the Jacques Demy set, I don't see why they would include more than one clue related to a release.
