Thanks, I ordered! Even with shipping it's about the same price as I'd pay for it during the sale.

Hilariously, I posted a picture of the Criterion cover for Weekend on my Facebook page and one of my friends made that exact same observation!

...It's that shoulder blade, I think.

Haha! It just seems so appropriate to the film, look at the other guy on cover looking over it.

If it was intentional by the designer (who seems to think deeply about his cover designs and gives great rationals) then hats off to him haha, great subtle design - it reflects the film contents without being in your face over the top sexual. I always saw the cover design as comforting, beautiful caring image, but now that has changed a bit haha.

Oh I have a new order to my Criterion display.

1. Digipaks, spine order.

2. Plastic cases, spine order.

3. Digipak inner cases, spine order. (This is new, some of the digipaks inner artwork and spine artwork is so beautiful and striking, seems a waste sitting in an outter casing!)

4. DVDs, spine order.

5. AK 100 (own shelf - its HUGE lol)

6. Zatoichi

It is so tidy and ordered, looks amazing, especially since mixing digipaks with plastic cases vary in size an look messy! lol

Are you buying because you like the film or with an aim to buy them all? You do seem to buy a lot as "blind"

Haha I do a lot of blind buying, usually have heard of film but held off.

And a lot I only just learn about, I usually research the film before buying, either reading synopsis, user reviews or just trailers, I won't buy a film I hate or don like look of.

Just so many Criterion I keep discovering that are so intriguing and HAVE to own them but out of all my blind buys I have never regretted a purchase, they have all been worth it and been worth it

I will never own them all as there are a lot of releases I don't like or care for really, or just don't seem worth it, which I guess is a shame lol

I'm exactly the same and I have about the same amount. Lots of blind buys, but after hearing about them and reading, I just have to get them.

Up until April of this year, I owned every single Criterion film on Blu-ray.

I finally came to the realization that it was taking a toll on me both financially and mentally. I was accumulating a large amount of films, some of which I had no desire to watch once, let alone twice.

Over the past couple of months, I've been going back and rewatching (or watching for the first time) many of the Criterion films in my collection in order to determine whether they are worth keeping or not. I've also been tracking down the Criterion films being released in the coming months and watching or rewatching them via Turner Classic Movies, Hulu, or some other outlet, in order to justify shelling out the $25-$27.

Do I regret buying all of the Collection? To a large extent I do. While I was fortunate enough to have purchased a bulk of the films for a discounted rate through eBay and other websites, it still cost me a lot of money in the long run. Also, there are many of the films in the Collection that I could do without seeing again. On the more positive side, I was able to see many films that I would have otherwise not be able to see due to the rarity of them being shown on anything other than the home video format. Some of these films have become my favorite films of all time, while others have paved the way for me seeking out more similar films.

At this current stage, I'm going to take my time with going through the remaining Criterions I have to still watch and / or rewatch. Hopefully when all is said and done, I will have a smaller and more concise collection consisting of the films that I actually enjoy and enjoy the most.

I'd take a lot off your hands if you shipped to UK :P but I can't afford the normal delivery costs/import chances, and not exactly fair you pay em :P

If I don't like a Criterion I blind buy id probe sell on, at the moment I love ad cherish EVERY film I own

They are incredible

Im not big on streaming films or watching online, id rather pay out and own it and then watch it best version - the price to rent/stream etc just adds up and meh lol

I don't have anywhere near the complete collection, but I can still relate to what you're saying. In fact, I recently sold off a Criterion title for the first time ("The Double Life of Veronique") because I didn't get anything out of it and couldn't see myself ever watching it again.

Of course, there are also recent purchases (such as "Il Sorpasso") which I know for a fact that I will want to watch again and again, so I still believe that Criterion blind-buys are always a risk worth taking.

$7.99 a month to watch unlimited movies on both Hulu Plus and Netflix is, without a doubt, the most cost-effective method for watching films, especially when trying to justify spending almost $30 per movie.

Not to mention, there are numerous ways go around the small costs of such streaming services.

Tried Netflix and hated in, then again UK has different film on those services to America and cant be bothered with hassle to get american credit card to stream from there :/

But yeah I would just rather pay and have physical copy - going through artwork as I get disc out gets me in the mood , the touch and smell and imagery Then seeing the beautiful disc menus

Definitely worth paying extra for !

The Double Life of Veronique is my favorite film of all time, so boo to you.

In all honesty, it's pretty easy for me to determine which films I would want to watch again. The Chaplin silents and talkies, the adventuresome Kurosawas, and the thought-provoking Bergmans and Kieslowskis, are just a few of the films that I can almost guarantee that I will keep.

Criterion releases some great films, no doubt. They've introduced me to some of my favourites. But I would say I dislike about 60-70% of the movies in the collection, even though I have a broad taste in movies. I NEVER blind buy. I don't buy a car without test driving it either. This means my film collection is relatively small compared to others and only grows gradually, but it also means that every single film on my shelves I love and would watch again in an instant. As soon as I feel I wouldn't want to rewatch a movie (which happens once in a while, thus the sales page in my signature) I will sell it, but this hardly ever happens. Anyway, to each his own.

Oh no... going to have another blind buy added to list haha...

Im in love with Three Colours (colors) - Did see this a few times when browsing online but didn't realise the director and stuff...

Does look very beautiful - Looking at clips and stuff, the colour and lighting reminds me of Amelie ^^

You have a good system, no doubt.

I, myself, have only been blind buying (non-documentary) Criterions lately if there are no other means for me to watch it ahead of time (Amazon Instant Video, Hulu, Netflix, YouTube, etc.).

Haha, I'm envious.

I really tried to enjoy it, but it left me with nothing. In fact, my memories of it consist of only a few random scenes that were beautifully shot. As far as plot and characters go, it was too subtle/slow for me.
