I hope you're right (although not for your sake). I've been waiting for "49th Parallel" for a long time. I just can't go back to buying DVDs.
I first caught it on TCM and was very pleasantly surprised. I already own the DVD of "Green for Danger".

I watched about 3 hours of the The Complete Monterey Pop Festival last night and have many more hours to go. What an amazing release this is. I finally got around to watching this after years of neglect. I was literally blown away by Ravi Shankar's 19 minute performance to end the film, that I found myself clapping with the rest of the audience in 1967. The outtakes are pretty awesome too, esp. seeing more of The Who and the Mamas and the Papas, not to mention The Byrds in one of their last performances with David Crosby. I'm wondering why The Grateful Dead or Moby Grape were not featured in the film though? Overall, an amazing release and I look forward to seeing the Jimi Hendrix set at Monterey tonight.

Oh crap. That's MGMHD. Sorry. They were Criterions and TCM usually plays those. I'll edit my original post.

Three different looks at how people can pull away from each other in a relationship. They can be cynical, but I find them beautiful because it feels like Antonioni is caressing his women with the camera. I feel a palpable longing while watching these films, almost like an ache. I even invented a sandwich and named it after Monica Vitti.

Ooooh I love Eyes Wide Shut - would it be a safe buy if I am a fan of EWS?

Imagine if Criterion managed to release the REAL film - haha that would be the best day ever if they managed to get Kubricks original submission of the film! :P

I think Keaton was a gifted filmmaker when it came to stuntwork and his marvelous setpieces. But I don't find his films half as enjoyable as Chaplin's or Lloyd's.

In my opinion, in descending order:

The 39 Steps
The Lady Vanishes
Foreign Correspondent
The Man Who Knew Too Much

You can't go wrong with any of them, though.

The ending may well leave you spitting nails (Hitch didn't like it much himself, but he was at the mercy of the production code), but up to that point, it's terrific.

I just rented "All That Heaven Allows" to see if I would want to get the blu. It was "good" but I'm so glad I didn't blind buy it. One time view for me. It was very melodramatic in a "Days of our Lives" soap opera kind of way. At the time of it's release I'm sure it was more "original" but IMO it hasn't aged very well story wise. It looked and sounded great and the direction and acting were good too, but we've seen this "type" of story over and over again since it's release.

I've never seen "King of the Hill", but ATHA was a good rental for me personally. Glad I saw it but don't need to own it. Hope that helps.

Thankyou both! Have M and Night of the Hunter, and get Diabolique here in the UK from Arrow for cheaper, but will look into the other ideas...
May order Thief too as that looks excellent.

The set is a treasure. It's one of the best things Criterion has released in its 30 years.

Shankar's performance is otherworldly. It made a lot of people cry. Eric Burdon sang about it in "Monterey".

Great stuff.

Holy! MoC has some pretty awesome release, Holy Mountain etc

Never really explored them, probably will avoid them though, I want to stick with one source for my film as it will get so costly buying from MoC AND Criterion. Well I am collecting Plain Archive films now so would be a 3rd...

Lol, shame :/ knowing me ill end up getting some though lol, their site only links to Amazon though - hope they have some on Ebay :/
