Not related to criterion but maybe a hope that they could release it:

I rented Tampopo and really enjoyed it, would definitely buy it if criterion released it on blu. It was a funny and very uplifting film with very good performances all around. I recommend for you guys to rent it f you can.

My 6 (7) ordered from BN 50%:

A Hard Day's Night
Ace in the Hole (blind buy)
Anatomy of a Murder
Foreign Correspondent
To Be or Not to Be
Yojimbo / Sanjuro boxset

Got to use my two 20% member coupons online though I wasn't thinking and ordered the Yojimbo / Sanjuro box without using, which would have been the best savings, oh well...

Just put in my B&N order. Picked up Picnic at Hanging Rock, It's a MMMM World, Diabolique, Grey Gardens, Thief, and Scanners.

Most looking forward to Picnic and getting to see MMMM World again. I watched that film many times growing up with my dad. Still have my old double decker VHS.

I'll probably place another order near the end of July.

I just watched PURPLE NOON (1960) with Alain Delon few weeks ago on TCM.
Even though I've seen the 1999 version of it (THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY) and kinda remembered what was going to happen...PURPLE NOON builds up delicious suspense once the story gets going...so am considering picking up this title too during the sale.

Identification of a Woman is a solid film. It's far from being his best film, but Antonioni seemed to have retained his style for that one. The story waffles from being "simply okay" to "good" throughout the film. The ending was nice and memorable. Overall, I enjoyed it.

Eyes Without a Face, on the other hand, is something I could live without seeing again. I've seen it twice now and I still can't figure out why everybody makes a big deal about it. I would say it's more psychological than horror. It has a few creepy moments, but it's more of a "what people do when they get an idea in their head" type of movie.

Superb film! Great visuals, great acting, great soundtrack, great director can't got wrong!

Bad Education is a great film from Pedro Almodóvar.

Sometimes they pull it off though, like with The Departed. Though of course that had Scorsese at the helm.

Yeah sometimes it works, I loved The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo remake/adapation. I loved the original but this just felt more polished and more care had gone into it - still hoping he does the other two films as they were quite weak and felt like tv movies more than anything :/.

I also loved the Solaris remake, very different to Tarkovsky's but I loved it, especially the hypnotic score - just lacked Bach! :P

I just can't see who you can improve films like Audition, I Saw The Devil or Oldboy etc :/

haha that is the most ANNOYING a answer someone could give lol - I hate 'why should I read a film????' lol >.<

When I read subtitles I forget I'm reading them and in my head the characters are speaking my language, it doesn't require any effort and its natural lol

Juzo Itami's films are sorely missing on Blu-ray.

You need to remember, most "Hollywood" cinema fans have on average 8 brain cells

l
should see the faces of some people here in germany (usually everything is watched "dubbed" over here) when i tell them that i import Region A movies from the U.S. or Asia and watch the movies in japanese or french with eng subs

i know plenty of people that are not able to watch stuff like DBZ with subs in their own language.. not to mention a foreign language.

just last week i talked to someone at work that was under the opinion old movies are bad becouse they are old (old = everything pre-1970).

Both films are based on the same Patricia Highsmith novel. "Remake" means "to make again", so a new film adaptation is still a remake even if the original source is a published story.
