I'm holding you personally responsible now if I buy George Washington this month and don't like it lol. Anything Malick-like I'm in 100% guess I'll buy it with scanners next week

Just a little heads-up that Lifeboat, one of Alfred Hitchcock's masterpieces, as well as a long wished for title by many for The Criterion Collection treatment, will be on TCM on July 20.

Importing has it's perks! Early shipping is one of the (few) benefits that we have outside of the UK. Most new releases tend to ship 10 days early or so when bought from a store like Movietyme or DVDWorldUSA.

This worked out at $35, inc. shipping and taxes, so not that bad, especially when shipping only takes 3-5 days. Sure, it's a bit of a premium, but this was only £4 more expensive than the average UK disc from a store (it was actually £1 cheaper than Artificial Eye's Mouchette is in my local HMV!).

Interesting that TCM has included Fritz Lang's MINISTRY OF FEAR as one of the titles in their new "Dark Crimes, Volume 2" Vault Collection, which just began shipping. The Criterion edition was released just last year.
I've never seen it, and would be interested in hearing everyone's thoughts on the film itself, and Criterion's blu-ray edition ... |

I've been thinking of picking up some Antonioni. I wanted to get my feet wet and for one reason or another I decided on La Notte. I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but ended up really enjoying it. It's been about six months since I've seen it and I find that it has sort of stuck with me.
I'll likely be picking up another Antonioni from the B&N sale. Which one should it be? |

If you want to seek outside of Blu, I'd recommend the other film in the trilogy, L'Avventura. If you want to stick to Blu, go with Red Desert. It's my favorite of his, but it's not something I recommend for people just getting into Antonioni. You really have to be on his wavelength for this one. |
