I know I am and thats my choice, I have a lot of the MoC on alternate crappy DVDs and id rather double dip on Criterions, not MoC.

Besides I like to show off my collection and be proud of it, if I got 1 or 2 MoC they'd just collect dust on a shelf in another room and get forgotten about - the just don't feel the best or as special as Criterions.

Then I hope you understand that Criterion will not do what you want all the time.

A lot of posts on here are asking for something you (I mean everyone / other people) want, Criterion is not about you and never should be.

Excuse me? all i said is I wanted a certain Criterion DVD upgrade - amount of times I see others begging for a release I hate and I don't give them aggro?

There are many releases I want in Criterion Collection and know they won't do.

Swear you guys don't give others this much hassle when hey suggest an upgrade sheesh - I seem the most hated here, might as well back off out of here as am clearly not wanted around here and my opinion is not respected despite me respecting others even when I think they are wrong.

I wasn't even askign for a brand new release like most,t was asking for an upgrade on an existing film...

I do collect from other places, I buy from a Korean place for a lot of releases, they are more expensive that Criterion, but they are film I like and great high quality releases. I juts not keen on MoC.

And I am really wanting that film - heard great things will keep eye out for it.

I don't just buy Criterions though, I buy from many studios.

I do not mean any offence but you seem to want everything released as a Criterion. And my comment was to everyone who says "oh Criterion should release ABC / XYZ because I like him / her / it.

I don't want everything released by Criterion but I certainly would love to see Criterion treatments on all my favourite films, the packaging artwork, the supplements, the transfers etc.

Who doesn't want to see their film in the best way possible? Whats wrong with saying they would love Criterion to touch a certain film.

I think is nice hearing peoples suggestions and reasoning behind them because Criterion does a superb job with their releases.

It also introduces new film to people when they suggest them.

well just ignore them i think this forum provides a ignore option. i know im already on a ignore list by a few persons around here.

i would love to have many movies in the CC just becouse i like em, or dont want to buy a old DVD release. but its just highly unlikely that Criterion will upgrade all their DVDs. just given the amount of them.

even if they would try to that there are plenty of people that still collect DVDs only. they would probably be a little annoyed by that.

just look at what happend to the dual format releases.

but its fine if you prefer to spend your money on a criterion release instead of something else.
i went for the Harold and Maude Criterion as well, even if the MoC would have been cheaper and provided the same quality.

Yeah I was just saying who I would love to see that upgrade in CC :P not end of world if they don't though :P

And didn't know about that ignore button, will be handy for a certain person lol.

MoC have some great releases and es some of their transfers are superb and may beat Criterion, but there is something that bothered me about MoC - I will probs buy a few eventually but I'm in no real rush - I know websites aint representation of a film but MoC website is absolutely horrible and if they don't care about how they present themselves, for me that comes across with everything they do - it make me feel they don't give their film the best treatment and respect and same with packaging artwork, I think a lot of their designs look dated and quite horrible representation of the films (excluding some), I know the art doesn't affect the film, but for me its the entire package for these sort of releases and it does let it down.

I'd rather just focus on Criterion for now and then explore other studios once my Criterion collection has most the film I want and love (except tis Korean studio I buy from).

But as I said I do buy from other film studios, Artificial Eye, Zavvi etc - I just focus on Criterion as I feel they give their film the best treatment and I love the work that is put in to them from eh transfer to supplements, to the artwork.

I'd say definitely not. It's a film I really thought I would like, but ultimately did not care for at all (surprisingly).

Watched Jules and Jim last night. Definitely a good film; I liked it quite a bit, despite the characters all being unlikeable. That being said, I don't intend to buy it because I personally don't see a lot of replay value.

Watched Lacombe, Lucien today. Excellent film.

Started watching the Japanese movie Pigs and Battleships last night through Hulu. Great movie so far. I hope Criterion does a BD release one day, but if not, I'll pick up the MoC release.

Having access to quality releases but passing them up because they don't have a C on the cover is pure stupidity. If there is an excellent release that you can easily get in your own region, pining for CC to release it is just idiotic.

Sorry, but that's the way I see it anyway.

How is it stupidity? As I have said I own a lot of MoC releases on dvd just not MoC version and I don't feel an upgrade is worthy yet and don't feel I want to double dip?

I think people's reactions to digipaks and thickness of releases is pure stupidity but I still respect their options and listen to them.

A lot of Criterions I don't own the original and when they release something I like I'll double dip but MoC haven't got much I want to upgrade or double dip on.

I think that's a good reason and not stupid.

Also if I have passion for an item released by a certain company and want to collect them I particular how is that stupid? You don't call people who collect a certain type of china stupid, or people who choose to collect certain art stupid.

Also the ones I want upgrade Criterion already own rights to, so I think it's fair and I've seen many people want upgrades that are already available on blu and they don't get called stupid for not buying or double dipping on that version.

Anyway this is a thread for CRITERION DISCUSSION, not MoC, so why am I getting so much shit, can understand if I was like this on their thread. But whatever. If I was desperate of buy from MoC but they've not released anything I am desperate to buy or upgrade.

Also region has nothing to do with this as it's not hard buying Criterions in UK... And I own more non criterion blurays and DVDs than Criterions, so I don't just stick with them when I want a certain film.

Anyone heard any rumors on what the late october horror film will be this year? Would love to see the Japanese film Cure (1997) get a blu-ray release from Criterion.

The Brood is all but confirmed to come out in October. The Vanishing has a good shot as well. I'd say that'd be the extent of their horror releases.

Careful I got loads of crap for wanting a film on criterion...

Anyway, most my wanted Halloween releases are coming September, mainly Eraserhead :-) but I'm happy for any scary/ghost etc films added to collection
