I'd be thrilled with Punch Drunk Love. It's my favorite film by PT Anderson... a turning point from his earlier mastery of storytelling in the mode of Scorsese and Altman to finding his own brilliant voice, unlike any other I can point to. I had recently started working as a film critic when it came out, and that was the first film I was able to rave about in print.

I watched it recently on the fairly good looking DVD, and the film holds up wonderfully.

I'm always at work and I leave at 6 EST (5 CST where I'm at). Only once (since last September) did they come later than that.

So, I can't exactly answer your question about 5 EST (4 CST) other than the fact that I am inclined to say that they've come between 5 and 6 EST (4 and 5 CST)

Yeah, it's kind of taken a little of the fun out of the 15th. The announcements (duh) and the reactions are still a lot of fun but the milling about beforehand isn't quite as exciting when you know they're probably not going to drop before late in the day.

Boy, you folks over across the pond have to stay up late to find out about the new monthly Criterion announcements/releases. Do you throw late night Criterion parties every month in the UK on the 15th by any chance? If so, I'll make sure to schedule my future trips abroad around the middle of the month. Lol.

please please please for both these films. Would love to have both. I am holding out on buying single title criterion releases until they are upgraded to blu. Why pay the same price for a dvd that has been available for the last 10 years when you can wait for a newly restored blu version?

Awesome, glad you enjoyed the film and commentary. Easily one of the most underrated releases in the collection, though those that love it, do a LOT.
