That's what it seems like. Which is really dissapointing because I have loved each of those releases. :/ I

I don't think a barebones release with two interviews justifies a $39.99 price point for The Vanishing, but that's just me.

For my money
[Show spoiler] the ending was memorable but paled in comparison to...

...the silent 'dilemma dance in the headlights'. That was flat-out ****ing brilliant. Of all of the various ways that sense of 'wtf do I do' could have been presented that was incredibly effective.

...watching the guy practice his serial killer moves on his kid. What. The. ****. Following that up with a game of 'hey kids, let's see how loud we can scream' was incredibly chilling.

Those are the things I flash to when I think of this film. And again, that's not intended to take anything away from the ending.

That was pretty good too

Aww...

New artwork for Tati set, I loved the original artworks, especially Trafic.

New ones are nice though

I will admit that I am let down in the sense that I was expecting a lot more horror-themed films coming out this month (especially Don't Look Now), but I am extremely happy with all of the films that took their place (aside from F For Fake).

It's a more popular film than any of the other barebones releases (except for Blue is the Warmest Color), so $30 would be too low.

Bemused by the animosity being shown towards F For Fake. After Kane it's my favourite Welles film, and I'm very fond of the guy.

Apparently that experiment did not go over too well.

As an aside, it would also appear that people who say *****ing on the internet is pointless might have ever so slightly underestimated the power of *****ing about stuff.

They are resorting back to their separate Blu-ray and DVD releases because apparently people haven't gotten with the times and still buy films on DVD. As a result, they don't feel they should spend the price for the Blu-ray, as well.

Disappointed not to see more horror as well. I would have loved to see The Brood or Don't Look Now, or something totally out of left field. The Vanishing is one I have been wanting to see though.

Thnks for the info. I guess that's good for me seeing as I have no use for DVD copies of a film I own on blu.

The Innocents could have easily been an October horror title, we just get that a month earlier

The package for Scanners is so impressive, and the booket essay by Kim Newman is nice, just wish Newman could have been able to do a commentary track for the film. I love the artwork and can't wait to watch the film but I think I will save this film for Friday or Saturday nite.

I am pretty sure that they abandoned them when they switched to dual format. Whether they come back or not is another question...
