I DVRed that recently and for some reason it didn't immediately click for me but once it did, yeah, it was great.

No idea if it's coming but I'd be delighted if it did.

The Harder They Come seems like a title that will never be upgraded.

Benjamin Button deserves all the hate it gets.

The film, that is.

Yes, probably The Kid, Limelight or The Circus. Criterion has HD masters for those three and has put HD versions on iTunes (and maybe Hulu+ too?). Maybe they would like to release a Chaplin box!

Benjamin Button is an easy target folks. It is a good movie and those comparing to Forest Gump, well I would take this over Mr. Gump any day. It just feels much more like an adult fairy tale to me (I.e. Perfume, Big Fish, etc). Also, BB serves as a good gateway film into the collection who may have bought the flick because they liked it or like Brad Pitt and then wondered what the C on the cover meant.

Besides, there are so many more deserving targets in the collection. I just wish people would be fair with certain hollowed classics. Very rarely do I see people in this thread criticize films like Rashomon or Brazil which in my opinion just do not hold up. I can see the influence and respect them but trying to separate them from their dated attributes is impossible for me.

I sometimes feel the same regarding music (which I am a much bigger nerd for then film biut love both). Joy Division was very innovative and influential, however I would take Interpol's " Turn on the Bright Lights" over "Closer" or "Unknown Pleasures" any day. I just think at Interpol did a better job of taking JD's asthetic then they did themselves (from an album perspective - nothing can top Love Will Tear Us Apart).

I would take Tokyo Story, The Great Beauty, Breaking The Waves, Hunger, and Picnic At Hanging Rock out of that pile for immediate viewing... and then not leave your house this weekend until they're watched. But that's just me.

Have fun!

I'm not a fan of Brazil. I saw it at a theater when I was in college, and, although it was interesting, I have no desire to pick up the Criterion Blu-ray.

Don't get me started on Interpol. Interpol's Turn on the Bright Lights is my favorite album of the 2000s, and I also love their subsequent releases. I've seen all 10 of Interpol's Atlanta concerts, including their first gig here at a small club venue that was only half full at the time, and a radio promotional gig where only 100 of us were allowed inside. I've met the band members in person a few times, and they're good people. I'll be seeing Interpol for the 11th time this November, since I grabbed my ticket this past payday (the same day that I bought a ton of Criterions...that was a rough day for the wallet).

The new Interpol song is quite good. Interpol are sort of like Boston in that they can record the same song about a hundred times and somehow make it work every single time. I just love their sound.

I still prefer Joy Division, though. I grew up listening to Joy Division and New Order.

Well,

1. Brazil and Rashomon still hold up for me.
2. Interpol has nothing on Joy Division (or any Post-Punk band they were inspired by)

Same, I am in no rush to upgrade , its a cool film and has some great elements, but it isn't as amazing as people make it out to be, I think Terry Gilliam is a good director but he isn't as incredible as people do make out - just my opinion...

Some of his films do stand out and are great but meh, I am in no rush to upgrade or look into other films for now, the only film that stand out for me are Twelve Monkey's and Fear and Loathing, but even then Twelve Monkey's isn't perfect and has its flaws.

Im not excited about his newest film, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus was so bad and weak on so many levels, (I was so gutted) I'm a bit scared to try his newer stuff, some directors do just lose it I suppose :/

Im rambling lol
