Finally got around to picking up Certified Copy - complete blind buy but heard good things and sounds like my sort of film

Can't wait for it to arrive, so excited

I'm Australia, but the B&N sale still works out to be a really good deal for me.

Ah right, I avoid B&N cause when I last checked (some did ship to UK) but they wanted me to pay a fortune in shipping so just avoided it lol

The more blurays you order the cheaper it gets for shipping.

If they sent all item sin one package is it the standard customs charge? No idea who customs works lol

I've heard many stories about packages from Barnes and Noble not being charged customs. Maybe someone else can chime in?

No, they never used to, as everything they dispatched was marked up as 'books' but last year they started putting 'discs' on the packages instead. Oh it was a golden time, especially at sale time, but no longer.

Be very wary about ordering from B&N as if you order a lot, even though the postage is still the same, they can still dispatch in separate packages, even if you beg them not to. They claim to have no control over their warehouse. So if you order five, you can end up paying the £8 Post Office admin fee five times over on one order.

They went from being the safest to the least safe!

It's so frustrating, whats worse is you have added £4 post office handling fee! so cheeky!

Guess worse case you can refuse to pay it and they get returned and you get refund?

Just listened to the audio commentary on All That Heaven Allows and it's a great one. John Mercer and Tamar Jeffers-McDonald (two Brits) complement each other nicely without resorting to one-upmanship, and they react a lot to what is on screen and don't just drone on like a textbook. Tamar has a slight lisp which isn't off-putting in the slightest. Recommended!

I'm curious to find out what your favourite commentaries are in the Collection!

(Btw, I want to live in that old mill house Ron fixes up)

All the silent comedies have great audio commentaries on them, Island Of Lost Souls, Seconds, the Wes Anderson commentaries. These are all the ones that immediately spring to mind.

I gave up on them in 2010 after being stung twice during that years B+N sale. Wound up paying over £100 in fees! I've stuck with movietyme and ebay since.

The Post Office charge an £8 fee! It's insulting! I don't have an issue with paying VAT, but the £8 fee winds me up something rotten.

Not a commentary but I LOVE LOVE LOVE that you can choose who narrates Brand Upon The Brain.

AH I forget what they charge - most my charges have been £12 total but not sure who takes what, as you say I don't mind paying tax and find that fair but the extra charges are frustrating and there just for the companies to gain more money :/

I had to go post office the other day to pay 11p + £1 extra charge as someone hadn't paid enough for a letter...

My main problem with customs is their lack of respect when checking my packages, I have had criterion sliced open with a knife thats gone through the plastic case a few times and they have cheek to simply repackage and ignore their mistake?

>.<!!!

I have to give a shout out to the commentaries on Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas as well. I watched it three times in a row and each time was better than the last!

Just when I've been bemoaning the paucity of British New Wave films in CC, it would delight me to see them release Tom Jones. One, Two, Three would be great, too, though. Can't have too much Wilder.

I finally finished watching my Pierre Etaix set tonight after pacing it out over the past week or two. I respect Etaix for his originality and his creativeness, but overall, I can't really say that anything about his films stuck out for me. There were a few chuckle moments in all of his works, but a few of them drew on the verge of irritating with some of the juvenile antics, such as misplacing items or doing something the wrong way due to not paying attention. While I think that his films got better as the years progressed, I still think I enjoyed Rupture and Le Grand Amour (it's very avant-garde in a Buñuel sort of way) the most. Also, kudos to the nod to Fellini's La Strada in Yoyo. All-in-all, Pierre Etaix is certainly not a bad set, but nothing that I could see myself rewatching again.

I also finished watching All That Jazz a little while ago. It's a pretty morbid film at times, but the acting is great and it's definitely entertaining, as well. Who knew that singing about death could be so fun?
