I just finished watching the Blu-ray of Out of the Past. The excellent DVD edition did not leave a lot of room for improvement, but this Blu-ray steps up to the plate and delivers a beautiful black-and-white transfer.
I wish that Criterion would get their hands on Night of the Demon/Curse of the Demon. I have a feeling that Warner Archive may handle the Jacques Tourneur films that were produced by Val Lewton, but there's no telling. |

You lucky SOB. I pre-ordered it from Amazon, along with The Children's Hour and The Unforgiven (both from Kino). All three were streeting today. I got the two Kinos, but they don't have an estimated delivery date for Out of the Past yet. Basterds.

Jeanne Moreau - 86 my grandma - 85 (go grandma!) on the topic.. I've always wanted to share this w/ people, but until now it would have been too random. for those of you who have iPhones with the Siri function, did you know that you can ask Siri, for example, "is Humphrey Bogart dead?" and it (umm.. she?) will give you his death age and date of death. you can also ask something like, "which film won Best Picture in 1940?' and she'll tell you what it was. pretty cool |
