I would say YES if it wasn't because it is Sony. They have not released any catalog titles all year. Just in case you have not noticed they have abandoned releasing anything that is not day/date. Thankfully Criterion and Twilight Time have been picking up their slack.

That can be said about a LOT of movies, so... not really.

Do you know does Blank use jittery camera style? Like home movies lol after awhile of watching that i get terrible headaches. Just curious bc his subjects sound like topics i would be totally interested in.

I'm always down for box sets, but I agree, I'm just happy L'Avventura got the Blu-Ray upgrade. I always assumed that since La Notte, and L'Elisse were upgraded that this would eventually follow, glad to see it is happening this year finally.

The DVD artwork? That was horrible in my eyes haha - I was hoping they'd use Sam Smiths artwork (Janus poster on Criterion Store)

I collect AFI 100 titles and crossing off two more is nice enough but crossing them off on the 15th is very nice.

True enough and it's not just Sony. MGM licensed 12 Angry Men, Paramount licensed Rosemary's Baby...'well, if it was that highly thought of the studio would have released it' doesn't really hold up these days.

Columbia/Sony? I'm just very grateful that they did the restoration on It Happened One Night and then let Criterion handle the release. Tootsie is a modern classic. It's far from my favorite American comedy, but it's very funny, with a lot of great performances. I'll be glad to add it to my collection, although I'll probably wait for a sale before I do.

Yes. The new cover has the same look as The Innocents. Very much like a studio publicity shot.

Sony spent years restoring and remastering titles. Some of the titles like The Last Detail and Panic Room ended up with Mill Creek and only on DVD so far. IMO there is no excuse for them to toss their catalog aside. I'm happy that Criterion and Twilight Time have taken over some of the titles. Hopefully Kino will grab a bunch like they did with MGM.

The rest.. well, it's not their best November slate.
While I is. And love the poster, I think this is a very elegant cover.

Yes I was thinking how this bodes well for the others in that set...

I will be buying all five. Mostly intrigued by the Les Blank set; a prime example of why I am a fan of the Criterion Collection: the company has provided me the opportunity to see art that I was previously unaware of (By Brakhage, Hollis Frampton, etc.)

Well I'm still in shock that it has taken this long, but looks like their may finally be signs of life for that set.
Now if only Warner would get off their as$es and release The Philadelphia Story and Bringing Up Baby.
