Today for the buy 2 get one free. With my Free I made a blind buy. It was between Repo Man and House, and I decided to go on House. Did I make the right choice? I still haven't take it out of its packaging yet.

I agree. Unfortunately, not everyone understands cow logic.

And another question, the B&B cashier told me Eraserhead would ship on September 16th, the day of its release. How long do B&B shipments take to arrive when you've preorder them like that? I really wish I could just get it on release day.
You definitely made the right choice, one of my favorite Criterion releases.

You have no idea what you're in for.

That's what I've heard. Watching it tonight. Thanks! And I may try and go back and grab Repo Man at some point too. I haven't seen the movie, but I'm already a fan of the soundtrack. haha.

I'd watch in the following order:

Eraserhead for starters to get in the mood.

Antichrist for mains.

House to ease you out of what you've experience in the previous and book end the night.

Let us know what you thought of House!

Also, Repo Man is awesome!

The problem with Spielberg's WOTW was Spielberg. Well, at least, he's the reason why I've never bothered to see it. I gave up on Spielberg after Schindler's List -- I've only seen two of his films since.

I think some people didn't like
[Show spoiler]the miracle appearance of the boy at the end, alive and well after he disappeared into all that carnage where seemingly, nothing survived.
For people who dislike Spielberg's tendency to push the sentimentality buttons it was a "See, I told you so" ending.

That didn't bother me as much as
[Show spoiler]the fact that just about everywhere Tom Cruise drove there was an open lane. Even a passenger jet practically falling right on top of them and he and his crew are able to drive right away!
Amazing! But then, he is Tom Cruise.

Spielberg's War of the Worlds is an udderly fantastic movie and that's no bull. It's a Grade A title that I watch whenever I'm in the moooooood for good sci-fi. A lot of people had a cow over Tom Cruise's acting, but I've got no beef with him. The original movie is still the best in its field, though.

Just to herd this post back into the Criterion pasture, I'll say that I'm really looking forward to The Innocents now, and I'm going to lasso that Blu-ray as soon as possible.

I'll stop now, because I've already milked enough jokes out of this post.

That's a movie I haven't seen yet. Is it dated or is it still scary?

I haven't seen The Innocents, but those screen caps are gorgeous! Unfortunately, it probably still won't be out by the time a flash sale happens, and even then, it would sell out very quick.

The Innocents is still insanely creepy even by today's standards.

Let's just put it this way...

My favorite haunted house movies are...

1. The Haunting (1963)
2. The Innocents (1961)
3. The Uninvited (1944)
4. The Legend of Hell House (1973)
5. The Changeling (1980)

The Innocents and The Haunting switch places from time to time, though. They both pack a punch.

I could count The Shining on the above list, of course, although it's a hotel and not a house. A haunted hotel is one thing, though, but there's just something about an actual haunted house that is scary, because our houses are where we call home and where we let our guard down in private. Other haunted house standouts include Poltergeist, Ju-On: The Grudge, The Hearse, House on Haunted Hill, Burnt Offerings, The Amityville Horror (1979), Stir of Echoes, and The Sentinel.

My Blu-ray of The Legend of Hell House arrived in the mail yesterday, so I'm going to watch it on my day off tomorrow. Woo hoo!

How about House On Haunted Hill or House of Wax?

House on Haunted Hill is mentioned in my above post. I'm looking forward to seeing it on Blu-ray soon, by way of the second volume of the Vincent Price set.

I love House of Wax, and I want the Blu-ray, but that price never drops. I'll give in soon, I guess.

I'm so glad this has a commentary. I haven't been keeping score, but it seems like quite a few new Criterion releases don't have one. (I really missed one being on Red River.)

When heifer I see a lot of cow puns, I tend to steer clear of them.

Now I am in the mood to watch Red River.

Turn of the Screw gets my recommendation. I think reading it prior to seeing The Innocents will only enhance your experience of the film.
