How certain are we they are releasing TMWFTE in Feb? I got mine for £117 and also got the replacement case + Artwork which was much cheaper.
Debating whether to sell now and get the new release :/ but don't want to sell and it not get rereleased and then not able to rebuy :/ Plus I love that its a digipak, what if new one isn't ![]() |

Nice to see Criterion slowly but surely obtaining the studiocanal licenses back, if all is true. Just one more step towards Ran.
On a different subject, why is Chungking Express OOS? |

I would love for a rerelease of The Third Man - the Criterion is packed with fantastic extras! As for The Man Who Fell to Earth, if they include the book that would be perfect. There's no way I'd pay more than ~£40 for a film, so that ruled out trying to get a second-hand blu, and the presence of the book made me consider getting the DVD set - so if Criterion rerelease the blu with the book that would be the best of both worlds!
![]() Also, given Lionsgate's lacklustre treatment of Studio Canal titles it would make sense for Studio Canal to gradually relicense the relevant ones to Criterion... |

The other things in the image look like they could be Amaray case size booklets for Amarcord and Repo Man. |

I'd wait for an official announcement before even considering selling a copy of MWFTE. Last edited by Judex; 09-06-2014 at 03:37 PM. |

Ignoring the anonymous comment, isn't that just a photo of the existing booklets from Repo Man et al and the novels from the current DVD releases of TMWFTE and Mr. Arkadin?
An Arkadin upgrade would be amazing tho. |

Just a random topic for discussion for you guys...
Are there any Criterion movies in your collection that you don't particularly like but are extremely popular with your family members? I mean the ones they suggest rewatching every once in a while only to find your face looking as though you'd just eaten a lemon or something? |

Speaking of paying extra for out-of-print items (The Man Who Fell to Earth, The Third Man, etc.)...
I've been looking for the Columbia Pictures Film Noir Classics III DVD box set for months now and scanning the third party sellers once or twice a week, because that was the only one of the four Columbia Film Noir box sets that I did not own. For some reason or another, this third box set went out of print extremely quick, and the going rate on Amazon and other sites is between $200 and $300 (The MSRP of the set was roughly $50). This past week, I spotted a "Used - Like New" copy of Columbia Pictures Film Noir Classics III on sale from a third-party Amazon dealer for $99. I pounced on this deal right away. The box set arrived in the mail today, and it's in near-perfect condition. $99 was a little rich for my blood, but, sometimes, if I'm able to do so, I don't mind paying a few extra bucks for a "holy grail" item just so I can stop thinking about the purchase at long last, and stop looking for it online. Now, my OCD tendencies are no longer thrown out of whack by seeing I, II, and IV on the shelf without III. It's good to have all four of the sets. |
