This is hilarious. Zero respect for customers? An insult? Good grief.

Dude needs a life outside of the Internet.

I've actually seen that profile bash Criterion on the Twilight Time FB before as well.

Well I'm sure others did. I wish I was afforded the luxury I've hitting F5 for 5 hours straight

Well, I didn't spend the whole day hitting F5.

I took one work call and watched Max Payne (hardly good but quite a bit less horrible than I was led to expect) too.

A few minutes ago, I would have made a bet that nobody else in this thread watched anything cheesier than Amityville 3-D this afternoon. I would have lost that bet.

Max Payne does star Olga Kurylenko, though. That's the one aspect of the movie that stands out after my rental a few years back.

I had seen the photo someone had posted with brown dics.
I thought it was an individual problem!
Now I read this from someone in facebook:

Quote:
I'm looking forward to the announcements, as I do every fifteenth, but this month I'm actually more in suspense about what is going to be done about the disc rot in the 2010 Criterion BluRay releases. (Manufacturing defects cause the discs to break down and turn brown, leading to skipping, locking, or total unplayability.)

Hoping there will be a replacement policy announced soon, a definitive list of which discs are affected, and how to distinguish the disc-rot-prone pressing from later corrected pressings. So far, no answers have been forthcoming. Don't let us down Criterion!

The known problem discs are "Walkabout", "Summer Hours", "M", and "Days of Heaven". Also suspect are "The Seventh Seal", "Lola Montes", and "Pierrot Le Fou".

(going to check Days of Heaven....)

LOL, I almost said 'it was no Amityville 3-D but it wasn't half bad' but that would have violated my rule against mocking movies I haven't seen

Amityville 3-D is a bad movie, but it's bad in that "oh, it's so good" way that a lot of early 1980s horror flicks are. I bought The Amityville Horror Trilogy set that was put by Scream Factory last year, and I've had a blast revisiting the first two movies and seeing the third one for the first time.

All of this makes me want to see The Innocents again even more.

Tis definitely the season for The Innocents. I've got the region-locked BFI release (which really is very good) but I'm itching to upgrade and I don't think I'm going to be able to wait for November.

There will be a triple feature at my place featuring The Uninvited (1944), The Innocents (1961), and The Haunting (1963) at some point in October.

I probably won't be buying The Innocents on day one, but I'll probably hit it when a Barnes & Noble coupon comes along (that happens about once a month).

I'll be doing the same along with 'M' but was wondering if there was more specific info regarding the problems encountered or are they all generally just not playing continuously without freezing/ picture break up?

What would y'all say is the best horror flick in Criterions' collection?

Rosemary's Baby and The Uninvited are the only 2 I own. Looking to get a pretty scary one for October.

Any thoughts?

The ones we have consensus on are Summer Hours, Walkabout, and M being the ones with problems. Believe me, I have been in full blown OCD for a week! Right now, my BDs are fine, but many others aren't.
