Were Criterion to have announced yesterday that they were handling the Blu-ray release of the film it would have jumped the gun on today's press release.

I doubt it.

It isn't uncommon for Criterion to announce a day "late". The fact that they usually announce a schedule monthly and on the same date every month is something people take for granted way too much.

I can't remember the last time they were late, outside of dates effected by holidays.
