Be warned though, It is a little aimless for some time until everything comes together. However, that just makes you want to watch it over again, just to see the tapestry unfold.

After watching Walkabout again two nights ago, I'm now thinking that it's tied with Don't Look Now as my favorite Nicholas Roeg film. Of course, I'll change my mind again after seeing Don't Look Now the next time, because I haven't revisited my DVD in a few years. After that, I like The Man Who Fell to Earth. After that, I like Bad Timing. I still need to see Insignificance.

Fans of Nicholas Roeg should check out the 1964 film, The Masque of the Red Death, which stars Vincent Price, because Roeg handled the cinematography. In fact, I'll go so far as to say that any cinema enthusiast is doing himself or herself a tremendous disservice by neglecting to watch this film.

Yeah I agree: Don't Look Now is my favorite Roeg film, and easily his best.

So, does that mean they'll have finally upgraded all the Roeg films mentioned in Big Audio Dynamite's "E=MC2"?
(Musical SPOILERS at 1:10-1:30)

Not directly Criterion-related, but I love Big Audio Dynamite, and this is my favorite song from the band.

Lately I find myself getting very excited about other studios' releases (eg. Shout Factory), more than Criterion's.
Does any other feel that way?
I already want 4 films from Shout Factory's January titles and 5 titles from TT's Novermber-December titles.
The last Criterion i really wanted was The Big Chill.

How does Playtime compare to the rest of Tati's catalogue?

When I watched Playtime a couple of months ago, I found the experience underwhelming. The sets were glorious, for example, but I couldn't find myself connecting with much else.

I'm definitely willing to give it another couple of chances, but I'm also curious as to how the others are.

I own "M. Hulot's Holiday" and "Mon Oncle" on DVD. I've also rented Playtime. Of those 3 Playtime was my least favorite, and the others are probably tied. I doubt that his work would appeal to the big Michael Bay fan, and I haven't yet decided to upgrade to Blu-ray on these, but I do like them.

You should give Hulot's Holiday a try. I haven't seen PlayTime in several years but I recall it being much more subtle than Hulot's Holiday which I love.

This is the way to do it. I have a card that gives 5% cash back on some purchases and gives a $50 B&N gift card for every $45 earned. This usually nets me about $200 in free B&N gift cards each year, which ends up being 12-13 free Criterions per year.

No idea why but it was just a quick moment of dread for me.
I saw it for the first time within the last month and I had chills! "quick moment of dread" is a good way to describe it.

those who haven't seen this one are going to be very pleased!

coming to know your process in selecting future CC purchases, I'd definitely recommend giving another Tati film a look before deciding to buy a large box set.

personally, I'd rather own a box set of Nicholas Sparks adaptations... and as a follow-up to blu-bry's quote, I'm not sure Tati would even appeal to the average fan of anyone - Hitch, Kurosawa, whoever.

can anyone come up with a "if you're a fan of xyz, you'll love Tati!" I don't know of any if/then logic that would make blind buying Tati a safe venture.

If you like Chaplin, but he's, maybe a little too frenetic for you, blind buying Tati is a safe venture.

Not Criterion related but just saw Gone Girl and my god is was phenomenal! also saw Map to the Stars and that was decent, had some flaws but the acting throughout was incredible, Mia and Julianne were incredible!

Ahhhhh love it when a good film is released!!! sorry to go off topic but had to get it out! (both directors are inc collection so I can get away with it lol)
