Wes Anderson film(s) (N/A, Wes Anderson) will be released in 2015 as confirmed at The Criterion Collection's 2014 Wexner Foundation conference. The most logical predictions are The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014) and Moonrise Kingdom (2012) as they are the only two of the director's films to not be released by The Criterion Collection. Yes, but I'd imagine that any renewed license would be for titles SC don't themselves have in print as competition on Blu-ray. So Man Who Fell to Earth makes sense; Third Man and Grande Illusion does not.
And we're told Tati was a specific exception allowed by SC thanks to the Tati estate. No idea about Vanishing though it has remained in print for years so I can't imagine SC ever had the total rights to the film.
Would love Lars Von Triers, The Kingdom - Would have wanted Twin peaks but the new release seems pretty awesome.
Zentropa is working on a restoration of The Kingdom, so I suppose there's hope that Criterion might get their hands on it.
I neglected to mention any foreign-language TV in my previous post. Aside from The Kingdom, I wouldn't mind seeing Criterion do:
(1) The TV mini-series version of Das Boot
(2) The TV mini-series of The Best Intentions (written by Bergman, directed by Bille August). I suppose they could do a combined release of the theatrical cut and the TV version, as they did with Scenes from a Marriage and Fanny and Alexander.
(3) A current (two seasons so far, with possibly a third coming) Swedish SF series called Äkta människor (Real Humans).

No, they confirmed a Malick and a Anderson. Both are likely for 2015 but no promises.

Hmm...I actually just double checked on that and it turns out that The Devils was hinted at but not definitely confirmed. Napoleon was discussed as being in the process stage and they were waiting for a go ahead.
Bicycle Thieves was confirmed, though, so I'll have to add that to the list.
I am really unsure about how I feel about The Vanishing.
I rewatched the film tonight in order to see if I liked it more on a second viewing so that I could justify a Blu-ray purchase of it and I really do not know. On my first viewing, my expectations were through the roof, but I think I have a better grasp of the film on this watch and I was able to appreciate some things more.
I think the film is incredibly haunting in its exploration of
[Show spoiler]the dreams of the golden eggs. I actually felt paranoid when they were discussing it.
On the other hand, though, I was really devoid of any emotions as the film continued to linger on
[Show spoiler]the sociopathic nature of Raymond. I had almost the exact reaction to that aspect of the film on this watch as I did the other watch. It truly did nothing for me, nor did the way that the ending played out. I like the idea of Rex risking his life to more or less be with Saskia, but the buried alive scene...meh...
Does anyone else care to share their thoughts on this film?

They said that they've been in talks with Warner Bro's about getting it but haven't come to an agreement yet, so they're at least actively pursuing it.
I believe they also said that they weren't sure about how to go about Napoleon as well, what with the colour triptych sequence and all.
I know it won't happen, but I hope The Iron Giant is one of the WB titles. By now its an iconic film, and Brad Bird wants it to be released loaded with special features, which WB refuses do. What better company to give it the treatment it deserves than Criterion?
I am trying to get over having to buy Criterion versions of everything if there are great local releases at a fraction of the cost. (Hard to do, but I'm working on it!)

I own the AU release and think it's a beautiful transfer, but being one of my favourite films, if the Criterion is noticeably better I may have to double dip.
