Amazon Canada has Sword of Doom and The Bitter Tears of Petra Von Kant up. Just pre-ordered those two:

The Bitter Tears of Petra Von Kant: http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00O...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

There's not too much of a price difference here. Guess I'll be using some Christmas cash for these.

We discussed here as the Wexner talk was streamed. Some of the members are pretty optimistic, but as far as I can tell, it was more of a wish-list that hasn't been proposed to Warners yet.

Here's a summary which includes the films mentioned during Wexner.

Some of the usual suspects in the Warner deal would be Blow Up, Day for Night, etc but I am personally hoping for A Face in the Crowd.

A Face In the Crowd would be most welcome. I cant wait to know what titles Criterion has gotten, I hope its all across the board in terms of genre...

They specifically mentioned pre-code Warner on Tuesday night, so I'm hoping for I Am A Fugitive From A Chain Gang.

I watched I Am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang on DVD a few months ago, and I believe that it would be a perfect title for Criterion.

I picked up totally at random in the first Warner Controversial Classics box-set. I bought the set for Bad Day At Black Rock, but every film in there is really great (including the aforementioned A Face In The Crowd).

It would only be 28 days away, but being that the 15th falls on a Saturday, it brings us to November 17th, 30 days away.

What are people thoughts on the Tati set? I'm debating to go for it or not during the next sale.

I am budgeted for a box set, but it's between this and Three Colors.

It didn't come from Harris. Criterion did a podcast at the Wexner Center last week and a licensing deal with Warners was discussed..."a whole list of titles including a Pre-Code title". Criterion said if half the titles that have been mentioned in their talks with WB make it to CC, it will be huge.

I did the post on Harris' original post and quoted directly from the podcast feed.

Is the MoC Metropolis the FULL version of the film with the recently new found/restored footage? There site says 150 mins but when I saw at cinema I'm pretty certain it was at least 3 1/2 hours - 4 hours +

If so, would be nice for Criterion to get their hands on this film and release with the recently found footage.

I'm indifferent, and I'm going to be that girl who says, look at the Demy set or BBS.

I've never seen the Tati films, but I'll heartily recommend the Three Colors Trilogy.

I'd like to blind-buy the Tati set during the November sale, but I'm going to have to be more careful with my cash over the next several months. I've got some priority titles to buy first during the sale, and my decision whether or not to hit the Tati set will depend on how much money I have left over at the end of the month.

The fact that I still have not even started watching my Zatoichi set, my Cassavetes set, my Lean/Coward set, or my Demy set leads me to believe that the world will probably not crumble to the ground if I fail to buy the Tati set in November.

I've already ordered it (and it shipped last night!).

Tati is one of my favourite filmmakers, and all of these are upgrades in some form or another. I'm going for it simply because this is as definitive as these things come, in terms of the combination of a complete oeuvre and supplements and whatnot. I loved this year's Demy set too, but this feels that little bit more special due to it being complete.

The MoC version is the complete version of the film (as it stands). They released the film theatrically in the UK, so this is identical. It has the recently discovered footage, alongside some great extras. There's nothing a Criterion edition could bring to the table, it'd be a waste of a spine number (not to mention that Kino have already released it in the US).

Ah ok - why does the website state its 150 mins? Is the new found footage added as a supplement or something?

I have been very tempted to buy that version but obviously I want th most complete version of the film :P
