I dug into a bunch of my Eclipse sets this weekend and continued to be amazed at all the great experiences in there that I wouldn't have without this line of releases. It's pretty much the last of the regularly purchased items that I still buy on dvd.

Super dorky question of the day (spoilered due to dorkiness):

[Show spoiler]For those of you who organize or partially organize your collection by director, do you have labels for the director's names?

I've been looking at picking up Christopher Nolan's first flick "Following" on Criterion, anyone recommend it?

It is one of the coolest neo-noirs that I have seen. The blending of psychological themes with sociopathic tendencies makes it Nolan's best film to date.

I use Unblock-Us, which is 4.99/month Canadian, has the Netflix region switcher, allows hulu, iPlayer, ITV, etc, and you can plug it into almost any device you can change DNS settings on.

I'm quite pleased with Unblok-Us, as I can also use Pandora with it, and you just plug in your email address when you move and/or change IP addresses. Never had any issues with them, except when Netflix itself goes down.

I watched Lawrence Kasdan's The Big Chill a few nights ago and then spent 2 hours last night watching the supplements from the film. It's a very good movie and I enjoyed it quite a lot. I learned that this could have been Kevin Costner's big break but Kasdan decided not to use the scenes of "Alex" (the childhood friend that dies which brings together 8 friends in a house for a weekend - although you do see his forehead in a shot!). I feel at times this movie could have been even more though, perhaps flashbacks would have strengthened the story after all, or at least a backstory on Alex would have been good so we could relate and understand that character more when we watch the other characters talk about him and such. The story didn't go anywhere I suppose but maybe that was its intentions in the first place, about a group of friends coming together and reminiscing about a lost friend. Kasdan seems to like that theme in his films, about the "coming together" of a group of people and relating with one another. I noticed that there is heavy use of music in this film and at times can even be a quasi-musical, as 1950s/60s rock n roll and motown really make up its soundtrack. The use of songs is a major driving force in this film without a doubt.

I'm pretty happy with this purchase and definitely recommend this movie from 1983.

I used that one before, really didn't had any problems but changed to Getflix since there was a facebook special and was able to get it for around 2 USD a month, since then it has been climbing in price but i think its still cheaper, they probably don't support as many services but i haven't had any problems and don't really miss any feature.

Thanks for the review.

The Big Chill is one of my candidates for the November sale, although I know that the record store clerks in the movie, High Fidelity, would make fun of me for owning it.

Has anyone received replacements for their discolored discs yet? I sent my defective disc 2 weeks ago, but haven't heard nor received anything. I emailed Jon Mulvaney, and he said they are not yet ready to mail out replacements yet.

Thanks - I saw The Big Chill years ago, and it didn't really connect with me - I'm much younger than the characters in the film (I was in middle school when the movie was released in '83) so maybe that was part of it.

That being said, I will definitely give the movie another chance - as I'm getting older, I do like seeing films about people reminiscing about their past, since I can relate to that...

I honestly haven't looked at others. I used to use some of the free ones like tunnlr and Ex-Pat shield, but they would often crap out on iPlayer's live feed (I live for my live streams of Doctor Who, Sherlock, and Call the Midwife), and Unblock-Us is in my currency, and offers so much more.
