The thing about the "cover" of Thin Red Line is, I like the direction, but for right now, it looks too photoshopped (hence why I said worst of the month). Just how his neck blends in with the background and how the tree work in his body is blended. But I love that alot of things are going on. His other work is like this and I like his other work. I just hope it's better blended and not complete. But like CC said, it really doesn't matter about what the artwork looks like, but to an extent, this needs some work done and I think that is why it hasn't been posted on the site yet.

yeah, definitely has that "WORK IN PROGRESS" feel to it, especially with the "C" missing and the little side box sorta being there but without anything within it.

Speaking of the "C", i was braving the Criterion Forum's the other day, which is often a terrible idea if you have any disdain towards pretentiousness, there were all these folks hating on the "C" being on the packages. sooooooooooooooooo silly, to me at least.

Don't fret...most of those cats were proclaiming the difference between DVD and Blu was minimal at best and that Blu wasn't here to stay as little as 4 months ago.

My favorite argument was that buying Blus was a "vulgar act of class warfare".

Textbook definition of pretentious.

Hahahhahahahahha "vulgar act of class warfare". Jeebus, that's awesome/awful.

The one and only time I ever attempted to post something on there, it was in regards to a packaging question I had about my "Berlin Alexanderplatz". It told me my post would need to be approved by a moderator before posting. No biggie, I thought. Then i received this scathing reply from said moderator informing me that I was improperly using the forum and that even though I was posting in the "Berlin..." thread, that my question should be solely in the packaging section. Furthermore, he told me that he would not move my post to that thread since I failed to properly use capitalization within my post, and basically that my post would sully the board name and refused to approve my post. I still hate going there, even when it's just to look at packaging pics.

Ha...you don't even need to tell me who it is...that feller needs to stop taking himself and that sight so seriously...the Criterion community here is much better despite some of us posting over there...personally, I stopped even browsing the forums for the most part after having run ins with not only the pretentious librarian himself but numerous other members...the only reason to even go there is for the MoC forums that Nick/PerPee usually comments in as he drops information there much like Kevin does here...

Otherwise, I avoid it like the plague.

Man I screwed up with The Third Man. I wanted it for so long but decided to wait for it to go down in price. But then I forgot all about it, and I just found out about 5 days ago that this was out of print. I searched and searched and couldn't find it cheaper then 58 bucks shipped, USED. At 3 in the morning a couple days ago, I saw it used on goHastings for 45 bucks and decided to bite. I almost hope it comes in a rental case so I can complain. I've heard from so many people that when they complain about the rental case, they give your money back and u can keep the movie. I highly doubt that would happen, seeing that it's so expensive, but that would be amazing, cause then I could just order the case for 5 bucks from criterion. Maybe they would just give some of my money back, which would still be awesome. High hopes I know, but a guy can dream. I'm not taking any chances. I got Pierrot le fou from borders with the 40 % off coupon for $26 and some change in the clear case. Then had my girlfriend pick up Gomorrah for the same price with her coupon. I know it's not going oop, but I couldn't resist.

Well, you have to remember that the pristine print that Anna Karina is watching is different than the only one that exists now. It was found in a closet and its pretty scratchy, so I think a blu is somewhat unlikely. Its still very watchable though.

After so long, there is very little they could have added or created. The entire cast is no longer with us so it would be nothing more then comments by directors and producers of today talking about the movie. I am just so darn happy to have one Audrey Hepburn on Blu-ray, I won't complaint.

My Fair Lady restored in 70mm would be sublime. Let's hope it's being worked on.

I post over there on occasion. They're not too bad. A few things I keep in mind:

1. Don't take anyone too seriously.

2. Even though they get tired of people wanting a blu-ray of a particular film---ignore them. Keep pulling for the blu-ray

3. Take their dispassionate reviews with a grain. Much of the time the reviewer doesn't like the director of the film being reviewed (see 8 1/2 review). Not to mention the penchant for the phrase "a touch of".

Just got the 'new' newsletter. It doesn't look any different or special to me.

From the clue, it appears there might be a blu-ray of "Night Of The Hunter"???? The clue is a white bunny with the words "Wuv" and "Ate" written on its knuckles in blue. Just a guess, though.

Well, just got the newsletter. My first thought of the picture of the rabbit with "WUV' and "ATE" on its fingers would obviously be "The Night of the Hunter." Any other possibilities?

That's awesome news.
I've been waiting for a Night of the Hunter Blu ever since I found out that Criterion acquired the license

Also, I'm guessing the bunny rabbit means that Easter time is when we can expect the BD?
