Update.... 6/17/10 User "Beta Man" from Blu-ray.com states that in fact, the box set will include 6 and 1/2 films, not 5 or 7..... as only the first 49 minutes of Five Easy Pieces will be included, with the final 49 minutes to be included on a set that Beta Man confirms for release in 2017"

see.... I can do it too.....
Word on the street is that another Dennis Hopper classic Waterworld will be included in that box set. My cousin's wife's friend heard it from a fairly reliable source so you can take it to the bank.

Damn, I was hoping it would be Super Mario Bros. instead. Guess I'll just have to wait for Criterion's John Leguizamo Box Set.

Dennis Hopper didn't make Waterworld. He just got paid to be in the crap. Your all jokes are not funny since it has to be in the time frame of this "wave" of directors (late 60's-70's).

I would love to see Dennis Hopper's The Last Movie instead of Easy Rider. It's not even on DVD, and around the time frame the other films in this set are. That's not a joke. It's serious.

Sony had intended to release the exact set of titles back last Fall, but then pulled the plans. It would have been a DVD set only and would have been released it around the time they released Easy Rider on Blu ray. I'm tending to believe the rumor to be true; only because this set is something that was once set it motion. I think Sony got Criterion involved perhaps to share the costs, also I think they waited so they could release it on Blu ray also.

Im sure its been posted earlier but just in case if it was not I thought you would all like to know that I spoke to B&N manager today and he looked up when the Criterion sale would start and he said the computer reads July 13 to the 27. He actually looked it up on his computer and totally knew what I was talking about so he seemed somewhat reputable.

Just thought I'd pass it along. Sorry if its already been posted...

Factor in anticipated sales somehow, and maybe they just have to charge more to cover added expenses for these two. Maybe why some titles are dvd only in spite of how ready they are for blu too.

...Just guessing.
I don't see what's disturbing about it. The Blu-rays stay the same price, but the DVDs have their price lowered. It's a win-win, IMO.

And there is no way sales have lowered for the Blus...I think the early cheaper blu pricing was obviously to help bolster awareness that Criterion were actually releasing titles on the format.

Does this sale usually apply to pre-orders too? I'm canceling all pre-orders from here-out Including the upcoming June releases, so I can take advantage of the sale......

Many scenes made me chuckle...and the direction by Tati was nothing short of mesmerizing!

One of the two Tati films I recall liking, the other being Mon Oncle. Didn't care for Trafic; M. Hulot's Holiday was somewhat better, but didn't quite click for me.

Hadn't paid quite that close attention, thought the blu prices went up. Oh well, works a little better that way for me. Now if they would just drop the blu-ray prices too, since that still runs contrary to their intention of not charging any more for blu-rays than dvds.

No, Beta... only pre-orders up 'til the end of the sale date. So, anything after that is not eligible.

Looks like I'll hold off, and order these...... (Blu-rays at least..... I'll have to do an inventory and see what I can't live without on DVD...... still need the War Trilogy)

The Red Shoes
Black Narcissus
The Leopard
Close-Up
Everlasting Moments
Red Desert
The Secret of the Grain

Waiting that long for Red Desert and The Leopard will be tough.....but the higher MSRP of The Leopard will help with my will-power!

I better make sure Amazon hasn't prepared any early to be shipped yet

The user who made that absurdly stupid claim had Godard as part of his/her username...

On the flipside. apparently buying like 30 DVDs a month is totally punk rock and NOT consumerist AT ALL to that same person.

Yeah, that site has some bright stars...
