I HATE the artwork for Antichrist, it doesn't reflect the film at all and make sit out to be a gorefest horror film, but its so much more than that - Criterion got it right!

I have grouped mine though so it does help but mot my AE are DVD's, only got about 6 Blurays from them, I really love their Tarkovsky set, wish they'd upgrade it to Bluray though!

You're in luck! They revealed just this morning that they're doing them next year! That should mean that we finally get the long-mooted Andrei Rublev rerelease from Criterion too! And hopefully Stalker too!

AMG WHAT! The Mirror on BLURAY !?!

Oooh They are doing BTW, wonder how it will compare to Criterion's release? Why is AE saying its 152 Mins and Criterion saying its 159 Mins?

Also where did you read announcement?

Over in the AE thread (a forum user here emailed them). The site's review of BTW is up too, seems good (tho I have the Criterion).

Also I'm getting ready to place my first B&N sale order. I need opinions on two Bergmans - The Magician & Smiles of A Summer Night. If I can only buy one which is best to purchase first?
While Smiles of a Summer Night is grand, I prefer The Magician. The latter is just so moody and the cinematography is marvelous.

I also prefer The Magician, though that seems to be the less popular opinion in these parts.

I think you would have a seizure if I posted photos of my shelves. All the Criterions are spread out through the rest of my collection alphabetically, with digibooks/mediabooks sticking out here and there, like this:

Oh dear lol - I couldn't cope with that! Nice films though :-)

I see arrow films mentioned a lot, are they worth collecting? Like what's the quality like? I keep finding them reduced at CEX (UK second hand store).

its a miracle that you live in the UK and have no idea about arrow and not really much interesst in MoC either.

in arrows flash sale you will probably get 3-4 blurays for the price of one criterion.

amazon UK = used 160 GBP + shipping
new sealed = 250 GBP + shipping

ebay is most of the time around 180-200 GBP
but im pretty sure there are only 2 left in ebay.. so price might increase in the future.

I don't know if it has been reported in this thread yet, but after hearing about Vampyr going out of print, I looked through the full collection to see if any other titles had snuck through and discovered that The Naked Prey DVD has quietly gone out of print, FYI.

We should do a poll to see which Criterion release people would be most gutted to see quietly go out of print. I would have to choose Breathless, if only because it would be plain 'wrong' for all of Godard's 'big three' to be OOP on Criterion.

But I have to be honest, 3-4 years ago it was like, "oh sweet, I own an OOP Criterion", but after a while it just gets tedious. At this point, I'd happily forego the novelty of owning at least half a dozen bona fide collector's items just so proper editions of Pierrot Le Fou, Contempt, and Grand Illusion can be available for everyone.
