And something tells me Bergman, especially at the time of that statement, wasn't alone on Antonioni. But that's for another discussion.
Wow, you've taken a pretty flippant comment incredibly seriously. I wasn't implying anything that you seem to be suggesting in the bold bit.

The subject was Godard's opinion of Bergman's movie. When I think of those two my mind always shifts to the "Bore" comment, that's all.

To balance it out -

Welles on Chaplin - "Chaplin was deeply dumb in some ways.

Godard on Spielberg - "It's all fakery. It's false. I know the difference between Beethoven and Spielberg. I know why the dinosaurs disappeared. And Beethoven was a dinosaur."

I try watch films with a fresh perspective and try avoid reading critits reviews before a new film, I ask for advice not he film, but I feel if i read a review it really influences who I feel about the film.

If a review is great and the film is bad imo, then I am disappointed. If I read a bad review and avoid the film then I can miss out on incredible films.

I save reviews and opinions till after a viewing

I'd love it.

I'm really surprised that the Wall has never had a Blu-ray release yet, they keep releasing other Floyd projects but not the masterpiece that is The Wall.

If Criterion could announce In a Lonely Place or one of the American film noirs from Jules Dassin today, then that would greaaaaat. (spoken in my Office Space voice)

Today, I'm starting my new work schedule of 10-hour days from Monday through Thursday with Fridays off, so I'll probably still be slaving away or driving home when the announcements hit. It's all good, though.

Looking forward to The Man Who Fell to Earth being announced in 8 or so hours. Don't Look Now would be good too.

L'Avventura arrived in the UK this morning, and were it not for the fact that I'm heading out to see the new Pedro Costa movie in an hour I'd watch it right now!

Had the same experience at home with some friends.. only one who laughed. Then had to explain the joke to them.

Id be in for that one. Maybe Mulholland Drive will get its long awaited announcement although Im not holding my breath. Upgrades to Equinox, Carnival of Souls , The Devil and Daniel Webster or Fiend without a Face would also be welcome and most appreciated !

February 14th is Valentines day.

Criterion should treat me to a film full of love - Irreversible?

I've heard the current blu that is available is pretty poor

I have Dorothy Hughes's novel staring at me from the shelf. I have to make some time to read it.

Yeah, I definitely see Warners (with their liberal licensing policy) licensing those ones to Criterion!
