I can honestly say that Shoah is a masterpiece. It's a documentary, nine and half hours in length, that doesn't use archival footage but instead relies on interviews and recollections from people who had lived through the Holocaust 40 years before. It was restored and re-shown theatrically a couple of years ago, and then received the Criterion treatment. It's a must-see, even if you choose not to own a copy.

Playing for Time is a Made-for-TV movie based on the memoirs of Fania Fenelon, who was a member of the women's orchestra in Aushwitz. It stars Vanessa Redgrave, Jane Alexander, Shirley Knight, and was written by Arthur Miller. It's out on blu-ray courtesy of Olive Films. The film, Redgrave, Alexander, and Miller all won Emmys. I think it's on sale at Amazon at its lowest price ever, even as we speak.

Thank you, sounds interesting. I suppose if my local library has Shoah that could work out, but I'm willing to bet it's DVD only. And I don't have Hulu Plus. I'll figure it out.

Well, 3 out of 6 (or half) of the releases are documentaries at least! And that includes 4 films, not 3. (2 on one release as well)
