CG...I've been checking out the names of other films that Wim Wenders has directed, besides Paris, Texas and Wings of Desire (and Buena Vista Social Club, for that matter).

I see that he did an earlier film with Bruno Ganz called "The American Friend", that also stars Dennis Hopper and believe it or not, the director Nicholas Ray.

It got good marks on RottenTomatoes...have you seen this film and if so, what do you (or anyone else here) think?

I have seen scenes of it, but not the full film. You can get it on Amazon. Wim Wenders (along with Godard) were/are huge fans of Nick Ray. Wim Wenders actually directed "Lightening Over Water" about the last days of director Nicholas Ray with him before he died.

Also, for Ray fans like myself, Venice Film Festival will have a restored and rare Nicholas Ray experimental film, We Can’t Go Home, which I believe was not finished and was featured in Wenders' Lightening Over Water.

I might pick up The American Friend being a huge fan of Hopper and Ray, though the directorial films of them more.

I've seen American Friend a couple of times. Great perf from Hopper. Bruno Ganz is, as ever, brilliant and I'm fairly sure that Robbie Muller shot it too. It's based on a Patricia Highsmith novel, Ripleys Game. One of Wenders best. Would be great on blu.

Picked up The Leopard today and can't wait to go home to watch it i just have to hit the treadmill for a bit first.

Good choice, but I definitely wouldn't have guessed it. Years ago, I recall reading something about one of Reed's periods where he painted half his face white and, obviously, wore all black. For all I know, it could've just been a one-off deal, but after reading that, I recreated the same persona at a show I played at back around 1997 or 1998. Any idea what I'm talking about?

I make mistakes alot. But what is a mistake really? I mean, you shouldn't be some robot doing everything politically correct.

Well, I'm referring to the kind of mistakes that have you moving from GA to RI when you're 26 years old and then end up having to live in your little pick-up truck (for reasons we won't go into) at a rest stop off the interstate for about a month. Those kind of mistakes.

Avoid those, if possible.
