Agree that both are great, but younger? Linklater will be 55 this year; Anderson will be 46.
Well, yes, Linklater is a stretch... I didn't realize how old he was actually. I think Anderson can still pass as a "younger" director even though he's in his mid 40s. I think to some people, "younger" is a subjective term.
I want SOME film that fits that clue to be announced. I hate having a clue that could be read as at least three different films :P
I was looking at the cartoon again a few minutes ago, and wondering if perhaps I wasn't making some of it too complicated. For example, what if the river running through the drawing is meant to represent A River Runs Through It? I'm sure stranger things have happened ...

Of the 10 directors who had films nominated for best picture golden globes, I believe Linklater is actually the oldest/tied for the oldest.
I think all 10 of them were 42-54. (I didn't see Theodore Melfi's age listed).
New member. First post for me! Joined because of the discourse about the Criterion pic. I actually wrote a suggestion to Criterion in November about 6 paragraphs long requesting Two for the Road (big Audrey Hepburn fan, my picture is evidence). No word back, guess no news is good news? Anyone else ever try a suggestion?
Welcome to the group! Everyone here is both friendly and knowledgeable; I hope that, like me, you'll enjoy the camaraderie and learn a lot, too!
Have you visited the Criterion website and entered your "most wanted" titles to your profile there? I don't know if anyone at Criterion actually pays attention to them, but it certainly can't hurt!
I'm sure many of us hope that your request for Two For the Road is granted ... and sooner rather than later!
The Big Clock is my preferred choice, I must admit.
I love The Big Clock.
Ray Milland, Charles Laughton, George Macready and a really big clock.
What more could you ask?
And speaking of the remake, I wouldn't mind seeing MGM get around to No Way Out either. I caught it on MGM-HD several months ago and was surprised at well it held up.

Thank you for the welcome. Have not done that, but worth a shot maybe.
As far as the clock goes, I hope it is One, Two, Three. One of the few post-Sabrina Wilder works I like (IMO he got lazy pumping out romances and couldn't revert back to the noir/crime genre decently). The Clock or Big Clock would be a good option also, as far as presenting the hint plainly and making people overthink goes. Never saw the latter, but judging by the synopsis seems the more Criterion worthy of the two.
I bought Fitzcarraldo and Capricorn One from Movie Stop on my way home from work this evening.
I've never seen Les Blank's Burden of Dreams, which is is about the production of Fitzcarraldo, but I've always heard that it's almost as captivating as the actual Herzog film. Given the release of the recent Les Blank anthology from Criterion, I'm curious to see if they'll ever upgrade the Criterion DVD of Burden of Dreams. It's one of those flicks that I'd like to see once before deciding to pull the trigger, but it would be cool to see an upgrade available.

Its already been confirmed that its 100% for sure not One, Two, Three by another studio.
Personally I'm in the camp thats hoping for After Hours as well.
One of my favorite comedies by one of my favorite directors.
I hope its the Big Clock, but whatever will be will be. Tomorrow Im sure something(s) from that year long hint list will be revealed. And Im sure there is more beyond the year long clues..plus some upgrades to some titles that we all want

Link?
I've seen some one mention it in this thread without naming a studio, but not actual confirmation...
Regarding the earlier discussion of Asian cinema, I find it a big omission not to have any Zhang Yimou in the collection. He could easily have a deserving boxset with his Gong Li films, including "Red Sorghum", "Ju Dou", "Raise the Red Lantern", "The Story of Qiu Ju", and "To Live".
