I believe she was in some of the Ozu silents that have yet to be released by Criterion.

I really really hope that this means Criterion are giving us The Ball at the Anjo House - one of the best films to come from 40s Japan, it's a sublime, stately depiction of the change in social structure that resulted from defeat and subsequent American occupation. Written by the great Kaneto Shindo (Onibaba, Naked Island), it's a film that I think should be mentioned in the same breath as Satyajit Ray's The Music Room and Orson Welles' The Magnificent Ambersons.

Director Kozaburo Yoshimura also has a phantom page.

I have never seen this film, and I'm curious to see what is all the fuss about, although I don't think I'll like it. I generally don't like weird films.

So, while I'm waiting, I'll watch now Foreign Correspondent from my newly arrived Bluray.
