It is a strange film, it runs a normal narrative and at a certain point everything flips, that is all I will say as I do not want to spoil!

It's 2 1/2 hours of weird, you should probably skip it.

I had seen Lost Highway in my teens. (i was more open then to strange films).
It has a kind of charm in it and suspense, but I don't think i would see it again.
The Lynch films I like are Dune, The Elephant Man and The Straight Story.
(by the way, i assume a Criterion of Dune would be out of the question, right?)
I've also seen Wild at Heart and Blue Velvet.

I wouldn't necessarily call anything about the narrative normal.

Well when it first starts it runs out quite simple, you learn about the characters, something happens, we follow the characters to find out what happens etc, its easy to follow and feels like a 'standard' film if that makes sense, then it gets to a certain point and just flips and isn't simple and as easy to follow. It really challenges the audience etc.

Im probably not explaining very well lol

So, what is the appeal of it on the audience?
This weirdness?
Or the technical merits in production it might have?

eg. I don't understand completely The Double life of Veronique either, but I love it as a film and I have bought it.
It has a most beautiful aesthetic. (cinematography, direction, music etc.)

I think Odd Man Out was put out accidentally lol, it still doesn't have links on the page to previous and next release...

Hopefully soon!

I enjoy surreal-like films that make you think and piece everything together.

Veronique is one of my favorite films as I find it to be a relaxing meditation. Mulholland Drive, on the other hand, is strictly psychological.

Both, I enjoy abstract filmmaking and don't believe good films need to have a point A to B narrative. The vast majority of films follow this formula, so I really appreciate when a film can be original yet also tell a meaningful story/theme. Sometimes you just experience a film. I saw it 3 times before I felt like I had a really solid grasp on what it was trying to say, yet something about the atmosphere, music, and cinematography kept me mesmerized and made me want to revisit it after being completely baffled the first time. Many people don't have the patience for this type of filmmaking, but I find it quite rewarding.

Odd Man Out was announced separately from the others because it is the...

(drumroll, please...)

(wait for it, people...)

odd man out.

if you have enjoyed any of the following films, I'd bet that you'd like Mulholland Drive: 3 Women, Last Year at Marienbad, and to a lesser extent Persona and Godard's Weekend. it might be, IMO, better than all 4 of those films, actually.

mostly it is like the first two I mentioned. the latter 2 are not quite as (seemingly) penetrable as MD.

yes, I agree (mostly.) I don't think it is all that abstract, but relative to other films, I suppose you could call it abstract. it is that teetering between vague and complete coherence that makes it fascinating.

What if Odd Man Out is the only release in April, making it the true odd man out?
