How many of you all are thinking the world is ending because cases are different looks and sizes?

I don't really care about it being a different size, it's just curious, since the regular DVD variations ARE almost the same height (and width, I think?). Not sure why the Warner digibooks and these Criterion packs have to be taller and thicker since the disc is the same size, but whatever. I'm just happy to have the movie.

Oh, and I was surfing more of this site, and ran across these people that seem to not buy anything that doesn't have a slipcover on it. Really? Let me get this straight...... You're not a movie collector, but a cardboard collector? How old are these people, and why do they own computers?

Dude, the steelbook mafia are ten times worse...theres dudes in those threads that have more blu steels than I do blus altogether... and its not cool...not at all.

I've sold some of my slipcovers on ebay and made enough to buy more movies.

People buying nothing but slipcover films, steelbook films, complaining about covers, humping their covers, whatever they do with their covers, are the people that makes films like Lord of the Rings and Transformers big blockbusters, while Dennis Hopper will forever be known for crappy movies like Waterworld and Speed because of those people and Heath Ledger more popular than Jame Dean because he was in Batman.

And how in the hell do you you not like the Lord of the Rings? Im not a die hard purist who wore hairy Frodo feet to the openings but you can definitely do substantially worse concerning action/fantasy/sci-fi. And in fairness, Tolkien was a very intelligent and well respected man and should never be compared to anything Bay has had a hand in.

Waterworld and Speed would be unwatchable without Hopper. Hopper's legacy should be remembered for his stamp on American films as a director, and a great photographer more than anything.

I know he didnt direct them...Im saying the prevalent themes and important aspects he wrote about (modern industrialization, war and its effects on nature and people) were retained in the films and utterly destroy anything Bay has touched.

And I like Peter Jackson. He isn't on my fav list but he has some good ones under his belt and is in no way shape or form in the same hack category as Bay.

Okay, Waterworld rules..............................when I was 10.

And I don't know much about the Lord of the Rings stuff, besides watching those films once. So can't talk much about the "deeper meanings" in a big budget cartoon (CGI, sorry) about hobbitts. The book would prob be better to pick up those things, instead of some flaming Hobbits walking for 3 f'n movies to destroy a ring. If you wanted to take my money for 3 movies, have Tarantino direct something like this.

For those still wondering about the B & N Sale, someone asked on Criterion's facebook and, in a rare reply, Criterion wrote them back saying they believe it will be from 7/12 - 8/1. looks like we've all been pretty close, and this is straight from the cow's teat.

now, to follow Turbonegro's advice and "Sell My Body To The Night" so i can afford all the goodies.

Old news. I spoke to a STORE manager at B&N who knew exactly what I was talking about when I mentioned the sale who then looked up the dates on his computer and confirmed it as starting the 13 (which would be a Tuesday and would make more sense than the 12th).

Screw Criterion Facebook. I broke the news here first.

ya know, i try to write and word things to make sure that it doesn't seem like i'm that random person posting something we've all been talking about as if it were new news, but i guess it just doesn't transfer/work. i guess i'll have to start prefacing such things with "not new news, but hey maybe read this or something." would that help? yes, of course this is old news/speculation. and extra cool points if you were the first. being that all anyone has ever said about it has been speculation. god forbid it being a criterion thread that someone throw criterion actually acknowledging the sale and, wouldn't you know it, its around the sames dates we've all been saying. and wouldn't it actually make more sense for it to start the 11th since thats a sunday and that's when stores weekly ads/promos/etc get circulated? granted, tuesdays are new movie/cd days, but whatevs.

Really? A lot more happens in those three movies. Its kind of like in WEEKEND when all the movie is remembered for the 15 min car crash scene, but you prolly eat that movie up...And Peter Jackson is a hell of a lot better director then Bay.

And the only good thing Tarantino ever did was INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS

In fact, BAD TASTE, MEET THE FEEBLES, and DEAD ALIVE should all be up for contention into Criterion blu-ray
