I seriously don't understand the notion of "watching" a film while doing other things such typing out a forum post. I mean... I can multitask as well as the next person but when I'm watching a film, my full attention is on the film.

I have to wonder if the post being made is just that amazing that it can't wait until the end of the movie, or if some people just feel the desire to tell us what they're always doing... like the Twitter nation.

Oh, and Criterion has their double-sided "Mystery Train" poster up for sale now, along with some other video goodies to check out of the poster being printed.

The Robinson Crusoe on Mars print looks great....... but I'm far too cheap to buy it without a place to put it

Geez...what a MOODY MAC!

I would normally agree with you...BUT I'm feeling like crap today and attention span is a real challenge. PLUS...I'm streaming the film...not watching it on BD. I'd much rather digest it slowly and take occasional breaks, than watch it in one big lump and get a lot less out of it.

You've NEVER watched a LONG film and taken breaks? I find that hard to believe. THAT is the luxury of watching at home and NOT in a theater.

LIGHTEN UP CC! To each his own.

As long as I don't eat something that's gonna give me diarrhea 20 minutes later (and it does happen... A LOT ), then I can make it through the "long" films without a break.

Plus, I honestly wasn't calling you out in particular, which is why I said "people." It just so happens that your post finally inspired me after all this time of seeing similar posts from other users on forums across the internet.

Picked up The Seventh Seal at Borders today for $19.99 after the 50% promo. Couldn't wait for the eventual B&N sale, and wouldn't be more than $1-2 less anyway. Also got Dr Zhivago digibook for $17.99.

This is my 3rd Criterion blu ray after Benjamin Button and Stagecoach. Can't wait to watch it.

Fair enough...I believe you.

I'm typically like Woody Allen...I've got to see the ENTIRE film from start to finish...credits and all without a break. I watched all of Barry Lyndon and came close to pissing my pants.

I find myself dozing off today because I'm sick...that's why when I'm well, I usually don't watch films late at night. I'll wake up at 7:00 AM on a Saturday morning...brew up some coffee and watch a film or two before my wife and two young boys wake up. I'll be watching "The White Ribbon" (bought) tomorrow morning and "Night Train to Munich" from NetFlix, after the mailman delivers it.

My wife would drive you nuts...she will read a book during most any film and walk in and out of the room, throughout the film. Even I get frustrated by this!

BTW...I don't Twitter and this is one of the few forums that I post to on a regular basis...you guys are like family...hate ya...love ya...mostly love ya!

BTW...I edited your post...I believe you meant to say that, "...I honestly WASN'T calling you out in particular..."

have fun boys!
I was at B&N the other day using a gift card and I asked the Manager to look up when the next Criterion sale was, so she looked in her computer and said that there is a 50% off Criterion Collection and 1st Season TV DVD/Blu-ray sale starting on July 16th.

I wish I had proof of this, or a flyer or e-mail or something, but that's what she said.

The sale is per transaction. I bought six today and did so in three separate trips to the register. The sale you mention starting on the 16th do you know if that will be online as well?

I'm guessing this Borders sale is not available online? I tried the code BTJ7933K and it said "Cart is not eligible for promotion." Whatever that means.

That said, excepting the cost involved it's no worse than the puzzling obsession with slipcovers and digibooks.
Whether someone else's hobby (be it Movie Posters, SteelBooks, Slip Covers, Digibooks, Criterion etc.) borders on creepy is only a matter of perspective. I'm sure a fair lot of the population would say the same of any Blu-ray.com card-carrying member. Besides, I really don’t see why enjoying movie art can be considered creepy – don’t you have any posters in your theatre?

In any case, none of that was the point of my taking offense. If he had limited his comments at a simile of Comic Book Guy, it would have been a moment; but to continue by generalizing SteelBook collectors (and fellow members of this site) as opportunistic, petty, and amoral, is stepping over the friendly banter line into crass territory.

In fact, some of the most generous people I have met here are SteelBook collectors. I guess I just felt the need to stop this snowball as it was rolling down hill, gather speed and girth, and becoming generally mean spirited.
