I wasn't going to, but I succumbed and went through the Top 1000 list. My score: 699.

Thanks. Yes, it was a month or two ago. I don't think their timing was off though, (as to when the movie started) because before the movie even started it had the standard TCM intros. I don't know, oh well. I'll have to re-watch it again, properly. I did like what I saw though.

413/1000 for me. I really thought it might be more than that.

Fellini Satyricon Blu-ray REVIEW

Stunning 4K restoration!

Criterion will have to produce some incredible package between February and December so that Fellini Satyricon does not end up being my top pick at the end of 2015. For me, this is what Blu-ray is all about

Hi guys, just wanted to ask if anyone knew which recent films are due Criterion releases?

I know Blue is the Warmest Colour, already released as well, is supposed to have a special edition. Anything else?

Will Birdman/Boyhood get one?

Boyhood and the Before Trilogy (the last one being quite recent) are both extremely likely. (Edit: Which is to say the director confirmed them both)

And Wes Anderson's films.

Birdman seems unlikely at this point.

I wish there'd be some news about the Blue special edition. Getting impatient!

Any hints of when the full special edition of Blue is the Warmest Color will be released? The regular edition was released almost a year ago and still nothing.

This sounds amazing! I've only seen the old dvd and this seems like a quantum leap in quality.
Now I'm hoping that his Juliet of the Spirits will be upgraded (love those colors!) soon along with La Strada.
Another one I'd like to see is Ginger and Fred which I think is just wonderful.

Satyricon: You won't be disappointed. As far as I am concerned, it is the best restoration of a Fellini film we have at the moment. It is better than La Dolce Vita (which is very good, but there are some light traces of filtering on it).

Giulietta degli spiriti: It is only a matter of time before it is released on Blu-ray. In the meantime, if you really like the film, you should pick up the Noveaux Pictures R2 DVD release, which is vastly superior to Criterion's R1 DVD release. It is from the more recent Italian restoration. (A new 4K restoration for a Blu-ray release, however, will be even better).

This is the Nouveaux Pictures release:

p.s.
Looks like we don't have a DVD profile for it in the database. I will have to create one (Edit: OK. I added a new profile).

At least it was oh so cheap! And in just a year or so I've already seen several times.

Not sure if it would hit Criterion but watched de Sica's Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow for the first time. What a knockout! Seeing Marcello and Sophia together onscreen is like a wonderful dream. (And I know they have other movies together, so looking forward to discovering those!) Can't get enough of that scene at the end. Marcello on the couch like .

Just thought I'd mention (as if anybody cared) that I officially became a "Power Member" with my last post to the "Name the last movie you saw in your home theatre" over in the "Movies" forum ( https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...3#post10397873 ). The movies (and screenshots) that made the post were Criterion's superlative Blu-ray of the hypnotic L'AVVENTURA and Kino's very good Blu-ray of the engrossing and off-beat MAN OF THE WEST.

And I never got around to counting all the movies I saw in that 1000 best-rated movies list, but I had somewhere between 500-600 when I stopped counting somewhere in the 700s of the list, so well over half, at any rate. Some I've long been meaning to see, some I've got on unopened Blu-rays waiting to watch, and a few I'd never heard of.

I'm at 251 on that list.

For anyone who's interested, I've been using 250films.net to track my progress on watching the IMDb Top 250 and TSPDT's list. They haven't updated the TSPDT list yet, but I'm sure they will soon.

Is Criterion's flash sale coming up soon or am I mistaken? I was wondering if everything was on sale or if it's just the films.

Excellent review, but sadly this film did nothing for me (and I am a fan of Fellini and his style).
